p4c800-E and win 98?

So I'm finally upgrading an aging system w/ a 2.4C and the P4C800-E. I'm currently running Win98 SP1, however, which has caused me some concern before I do the upgrade MB switch.

The p4C-800 manual does not list regular Win98 as being a supported OS; the first one is Win98SE. I'd rather not have to upgrade to XP just yet, or to reformat the drive to complete this upgrade.

Does anyone know if the P4C800-E will run on Win98? Or am I going to have to upgrade my OS, too? Not sure if my current MB will even allow XP to be installed, which would mean either a format or buying a new HD, I'd think.

Any insight would be appreciated.

win98 will run fine on that board.

youll need a ndis.vxd update to run past 2.1ghz & HT will never work in 98.
