Default Is this the year for a new Intel build?

    Hello everyone!

I am finally retiring my last build "Prowler" and I am starting to seriously look at my next build. A lot has changed since those days while my thirst for performance has only strengthened. So as I start to get a feel for what would work best for me in this next build I came back to where it all started for me. Seems to be a little dusty around here. So what's going on folks? Where are the new builds? What are people liking and trying to get the most performance out of now a days? Looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to!

no easy answer imho . a lot of variables but for gaming the min id say is something along this line https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16814126192

    max imho https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16814487336
there is so many choices today id say let your budget and common sense be your guide . I always look or the fastest card I can afford that's not obviously over kill from Asus or EVGA because ive never had a problem with their products and service . I prefer Nvidia but thats just me .

you will need a new water block or your cpu . there (in my opinion) is no need to water cool anything else in the system . look at ek water blocks or heat killers . I like the ek full copper blocks . just make sure it supports socket LGA 1151 but I believe its will support all new sockets

Seems more and more these days that people just take info and go. No discussion, nothing

I would like to build that computer but I cannot justify the price. Could spend a grand but that is about as far as I would want to go.

    BTW anyone overclocking any more?

I am still on my X99/5930k machine.
I have been disabled since 2015, lost my job, my house, my cars, all my shizz, except my wife and my old computers.
I have had 0 income since then. Trying and trying and trying to get SSDI, but they just wont give it to me. Maybe hoping I will die, lol.

Anyway, I havent really seen a need for anything new, except for a video card. I would love to have a 1080ti (and, do NOT go EVGA anymore!! They are cheaping out on components so bad they have to recall and give out parts for people to install stuff themselves so the card doesnt heat up too much (which ALL their cards are WAY hotter than Asus, MSI, even Zotac is better), and their rma just gives you someone elses crap card that they 'say' they checked but really have only done a unigen on the dvi port. AND, their cards last exactly as long as the warranty, and then they fry and smoke and catch fire...almost exactly at the warranty period ending.
Sorry EVGA, I liked your products, but cheaping out on everything and then saying its the users fault (playing the blame game) and not your crappy cards is aweful.

Hopefully I will get a machine next year, if/when I get SSDI.
Problem is, other than 8700k and 1080ti, I really have no idea what is out there anymore, since I dont follow hardware or software anymore.
I will probably end up getting a pre-made rig, since it will only cost me abou $40 more than what I could get online (I did try to find parts for my buddy who got a rig just a month or 2 ago, and the price was so close I told him to go with the pre-built). And, especially since you can get an AIO WC kit in it for less than you can buy one online.

As for OC'ing, I cant dream of overclocking nowadays, since everything is so gosh dang sensitive to what parts you have its redonkulous. And then Win10 will just F it up in a month anyway.

Good to see some of the people back and talking though!
