The 7970 runs cooler than any card I have ever run..you can touch it while running a 3DMark and it feels like room temp...Im sure the Nvidia 3.0 offering will also be fantastic

As I said before, nothing rattles the CPU...when you run Vantage and you get to the CPU test the planes dont skip along..They fly fast..It's really amazing..

I ran 4900 with HT off for 3Dmark 05 and 03..all of the CPU oriented test were with HT on at 4800...I havent hit a wall yet so will try the 4.9 later with HT on for Vantage and 06...and then go 5.0 for 03 and 05...

    for now here is 3Dmark 03 and 05 @ 4.900...1.42 CPU voltage

well, I have never run 5.0 before..I just ran 5.1 with HT off...The 3930 seems to like it..I have yet to hit a wall...I cant catch Dan's 46K 3D05 score...It is a sweet score and I am a bit paranoid to go much higher at this point..No guts..No Glory...

ok, time to give you the trick to 3D05...

3D05 is affected more by the graphics card and less by the cpu.

so, concentrate on clocking the gpu

and remember, Intel cpu's prefer higher clocked ram with looser timings

ok..ill try tom..I get a bit wound up when running over 5.0...SO

    The ram is 16 GB rated at 2133....I am running 1866 at 9 9 9 24....

Maybe I could jump to 5.2 or 5.3 (Damn) and run the speed at 2133 but loosen the timings to their rated 9/11/10/28...or do you think looser????

maybe drop the cas to 10/11/10/29

    I ran the vcore at 1.472 at 5.1..its a bit over but I won't be there long..I see you did 1.58 or so...maybe 1.49??????????????

if I cook it it's my problem...no guts no glory...plus it will crash if it gets hot....so far its running way cool

and folks..this is a true team player...shows you how to catch him...TY Nutsie

Still pushing the CPU 3Dmark test..The 3930 is really amazing with these. I havent hit a wall with them yet..ran all 3 today at 4.9...also I am prolly still a bit paranoid to go 1.52 but will get to it for 3Dmark 03 and 05...

all 3 CPU oriented test ran and ran well at 4.900...

    3DMark 06:

    Vantage:

and 3DMark 11 which is still a bit confusing..

My last post for a bit..I promise...

I have pushed the 3930K to 5.0 with HT on and it runs the cpu oriented 3DMark test with ease...This might be where I stop..I like this CPU and I'm not sure I can get another. I did hit a wall at 5.2 with HT off to run 03 and 05 but I think it's because I wont give it what it wants and this new Asus bios is a bit above me...

    3D06 at 5.0...Just amazing...

and Vantage runs easy at 5.0....

The 3930 is just kick ass...even a noob like me can make it sing...The downside is the X79 does not play well with SSD's

The new Intel C600 chipset will only see the SSD as a SCSI drive and when you load the toolbox you cant optimize it or trim the SSD...I was all ready to get me a new 320 Intel SSD but until this is fixed not being able to trim will soon tip it's hat...

Because I had an old SSD..(the X25 160GB) I decided to try the Asus SSD caching..I was reluctant because of the Marvel port you have to use but my boot time is quick with this..Im using a WD 1TB 6.0 teamed up with the X25...so far so good but I would rather just have a straight SSD for the OS....

Hope I haven't bored you all out of your mind..This has been fun...

    turned the 7970 lose...@ 5.00

Very nice marks! I wish I could build a new PC to test, but with Comcast uping my bill every 3 months another $25 to $30 bucks it ain't going to happen! I am really concidering getting rid of them!
