    Default Psu

Darn it! My Ultra LSP 650 (650watt) PSU went out Friday morning.
I had to remove my video card as the new Logisys 480watt was the most I could afford to get right now. It was only $34.95 pluss tax. It does not have a 6 pin PCIe plug on it. So for now I am using the ati onboard graphix, an ATI 3300.
I guess I will have to buy another PSU in a week or two.

    I would not go cheap!

Reason#1: cheaper power supplies have low efficiencies. This will mean you will chew up more AC power to produce the same current to the computer.

Reason#2: cheaper power supplies fudge on the current ratings and usually use substandard parts in them. Too many people I know of have used cheap power supplies and have ended up with a fried computer.

Get a Power supply that is at least 80+ certified and has large +12V rails. you will be better off in the long run!

I have been unable to find anything good being said about A-Power PSU's. This is probably what you can expect from them: Linkage

Ok thanks guys I think I will try to fix mine, I took it apart and see the bad capacitor. I took it out, it's a 16v one so maybe today I can get one and replace it to see if it will revive it. I will try it in an old computer first! I have an old 2.53 ghtz single core I will hook it up to to make sure it works before I put it in this one.

    Brands I trust:
    Corsair
    Silverstone
XFX (for their PSU's right now)
BFG (but, they went out of business recently, so no warrenty)

Enermax and Antec are a mixed bag.
OCZ has sucked since their first PSU's.

Everyone else, I wouldnt really go with.
