Default Building new rig and I did some online impulse shopping.

This does'nt happen too often, but I had a good chunk of $ to go towards a media PC and hopefully my impulse online shopping won't be a compatability nightmare....

    I started out with:

    1) OCZ powerstream 600ADJ PSU
    2 ) I purchased the TigerD Intel D945Pvs MOBO/P840 Combo
    3) OCZ pc 5400 DDR2 667 DC 1024MB (2x512 MB) 240 Pin compatible w/ Intel D945Pvs MOBO?
    4) ATI Pro PcIe 1600xt, 16x 512MB.
    5) SB Audigy Zs Platium
And a few other things that I will get back 2 ya.

Is there something that I am missing, given the little bit given so far? I rate myself as a "8" as far knowledge, PC hardware student
I am welcome to all suggestions

    >make sure the combo came with a CPU fan for the processor.

    >check intels site on the motherboard to see if they have a list of compatible memory, if not, try your luck anyway. review bios revisions if needed

    >I dont see a case listed. preferably, make sure it has a few fans in it

    >make sure the board has onboard NIC or get one

    >dont see a DVD reader, you may want a burner as well

    >you may or may not want a floppy drive. it appears that USB storage makes for a good substitue these days if your bios supports it

    >perhaps you are reusing monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, mouse pad

thats about it for base line

Don't forget hard drives. If the board supports it look for sata 3G drives.

Now is 1gb going to be enough or should you look at 2-1gb sticks? Not sure if its needed for a media pc.

Definitely a DVD rom if not a burner (or two)

I have seen some very cool media cases but they aint cheap. They come with their own 7" LCD touch panel.

If using the TV for a screen to select what you want to do then perhaps a wireless mouse (the kind that you can wave in the air and the cursor moves). We use these at work for presentations. Very cool.

I think I would like to go into the RAM recycling biz.I think around 2 Gig would get where I want to go. I have 4 total DIMM sockets, 2 occupied w/2@512s. My board gives 4 GB and I just can't decidehow much that I will need giving my budget.
Hope to get tp you guys, thanks!
