limiting myself to 2 cds was the challenge
with dvd-r you are literally DivX unlimited for perfect DVD quality, but it can only be viewed on a computer

im just glad to get all this stuff off my comp and on my TV! :-)
(of course i could always view the s/vcd in my comp too if i wanted)

Ofcourse with DVD-r we can just make a copy of the dvd...Divx was a way to make the dvds fit on cds for playback on pcs and laptops that did not have a dvd-rom player. Then it became about stress testing...I haven't made a movie for actually keeping and watching for over a year now....

    i agree...

the DivX thing was fun to learn and at the time my only option.
it also became my main stress tester at one point.

but now it doesnt matter. i can deal with vcds (on my TV!) til i decide to get a dvd-r.

actually the movies are not very important to me ~ its all these downloaded TV shows that im glad to get off my comp and onto my TV :-)

some of them date back to 1997! :eek2:

Thumbs down Doom9 has a 5 day limit.

I'm very, very, very angry with their attitude on this one. Fine to have the limit if it was posted on their website but to omit it till you become a member is almost like a dishonest thing to me.

A great place to start when looking for firmwares and firmware-related things. The firmware collection is massive, and the forums are great resources.

CD Freaks LiteOn Forum - http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=44
This is probably the largest and most active LiteOn community on the Internet. There are a lot of LiteOn-related resources here.

    LiteOn Tools Collection - http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=83441
This is a useful resource created by Ssseth over at CD Freaks. As the name suggests, it's a collection of LiteOn-related tools.

    dhc014's Page - http://dhc014.rpc1.org/
dhc014 maintains a large collection of LiteOn and rebadged LiteOn firmwares. You will also find useful firmware flashing resources here.

    digi's Page - http://digi.rpc1.org/
Digi maintains a pretty nice resource page for LiteOn DVD-ROM drives, in addition to resources related to region-freeing and firmware flashing.

    Hope these help!

Just wanted to put in a plug for handbrake here. I discovered handbrake by accident whilst browsing around the videolan.org website, in the x264 area.

Handbrake is a great one-click program to "backup" your purchased DVD moves to H.264 format. Nice and tight, with good playback quality even at 1000b/s. I find I have to do 1800b/s rate to get similar quality with DivX
