Welcome to Folding on the BleedinEdge
Well Folks, the BE Folding Team is officially up and folding. I figured you guys might want some information about how to join and track your progress.
To join the BleedinEdge folding team, just enter team number 34073 when asked by the client during setup.
Here is the link to the main folding site at Stanford, It will give you information on the projects, the science behind them and some results of that work.

This is the download site, the program comes in two different versions, GUI and Text Console. It also supports Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP, Linux, and Mac OS X.

If you have any problems getting it to run on your machine, just drop us a line here at the BleedinEdge or check out the official FAQ.

Another good source of information and help is the support forum.

One of the best things about Folding on a team is the good-hearted competition that comes along with it. The faster your machine is, the quicker it will complete a work unit. Of course, the more work units that you complete, the more points you get, and if you have multiple machines, well, you get the picture.
Stats
There are a couple of ways to keep track of your progress, one of those is the Stats Page and another is monitoring programs. Many folding teams have generated their own stats pages and a couple of them have developed programs to locally monitor the folding client on your own machine. I’ll list a few of them for you.
The Official Stats Page at Stanford, http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/m...&teamnum=34073

Miscellaneous Programs
I’ve compiled a small list of programs that might come in useful for everyone. I'll add to this as I find more.
HideIt V.1.0 Created by our very own sodface. It will hide the F@H window and prevent it from showing on the task bar.
Tips for Folding efficiently
1 If you can, let your computer run 24/7
2 Use one of the monitoring programs, they can alert you of network problems if your running several boxes.
3 Try not to stop the client in the middle of a “frame”, it will have to start the frame over and could possibly corrupt the entire work unit.
F@H Client Install and Configuration Settings
Snafu, one of our Folding team members, found an excellent client setup artical over at MaximumPC called the Folding at Home Tweaker's Guide . It's got some great information, so head over and give it a read.
I’ve put together an install and configuration list to get you up and running.
Setup is simple, after double clicking the client exe, just answer the following questions as listed below. Options are in () and default settings are in []
User name [Anonymous]? = Your user name.
Team Number [0]? = 34073
Launch automatically at machine startup, install this as a service (yes/no) [no]
Ask before fetching/sending work (no/yes) [no]? = no
Use Internet Explorer Settings (no/yes) [no]? = no
Use proxy (yes/no) [no]? = no
Allow receipt of work assignments and return results greater than 5MB in size (may have large memory demands) (no/yes) [no]
Change advanced options (yes/no) [no]? = yes
Core Priority (idle/low) [idle]? = idle
CPU usage requested (5-100) [100]? = 100
Disable highly optimized assembly code (no/yes) [no]? = no
Pause if battery power is being used (useful for laptops) (no/yes) [no]
Interva, in minutes, between checkpoints (3-30) [15]? = 15
Memory, in MB, to indicate (xxxx available) [xxxx]
Request work units without deadlines (no/yes) [no] = no
Set -advmethods flag always, requesting new advanced scientific cores and/or work units if available (no/yes) [no]
Ignore deadline information (no/yes) [no]? = no
Machine ID (1-8) [1]? = 1
For those running the newer dual core cpu's do the following.
Download the client from Stanford twice, put each copy in its own folder and run the client exe from that folder. Set Machine ID to 1 for the first, and set it for 2 for the second.
I hope this information is helpful and I will be adding more as it comes available.
Happy Folding
Oh, I almost forgot……..CATCH ME IF YOU CAN !!!![]()
