I started lurking a while back when this place got mentioned on the old dfi street. Then amazingly enough nothing went wrong with my rig for quite some time, so I kind of fell out of tech boards.. between that and getting enough of a tech fix at my 9 to 5 it was quite some time before I decided to find the walls with my rig. Naturally I came back to where I initially learned how to build a system, and now you have to put up with me That and when I saw that Hawk was a fellow islander, I knew this was a decent place

Ah I feel left out now...

I first came across BE from talking to a friend over at dev and something came up about Flexkill (I think it may have been after he bought flex's amazing OCZ plat sticks). But something about him being a mod... so I joined up (since well I'm a member on like 10+ forums...) and well you guys have a great community here..

So the contest really got me started on posting... and its great to see all of your experience that you guys have from your years of experience (considering I built my first comp less than a year and a half ago.. I can always use the help )

    BTW 100 posts

I was having power supply problems, having killed four on the same rig in about a year, and was searching for information on PSUs.

At the time pastorjay had just posted an article reviewing some OCZ PSU's.

After reading the article, I looked around the forums and was impressed/desperate enough to register and ask for help.

Hawk and Snafu did what the could to help me.

When it was all done, I ended up with an OCZ PSU, an UPS, and the beginnings of my time here at BE.

    Been an adventure every since.

EDIT: Man I just realized that it has been more than three years with my current CPU/motherboard and only my second video card.

After buying a 6800Ultra OC from BFG, I figured out I did not have a powerful enough power supply. After buying a cheap (claimed to be) 650W PS, I had the same problem. I searched Google and found this place. I learned about the amps I needed on the 12V rail and bought the power supply I use to this day. I don't have a lot of free time, so this is the only forum I have actually signed up with. I try to give some good input here when I can.

BGP, you could really use an upgrade. My sister still uses an Athlon XP 3200+ I built for her many years ago. You are getting beat by my SISTER!!! You need a nice quad core and a SATA RAID5. Hope that lights a fire under ya!

In 2006, I decided it was time to build my first ever rig from scratch. So, I began doing searches for the best motherboard. I felt this was the first choice that I had to make. Every search came up with the same answer, DFI; especially if you want to OC. Since I decided on DFI and intended to try my luck at OC'ing, I went to DFI-Street to learn more about this phenomenon.

I asked as many questions (some good, some stupid) as I could and was told to get OCZ memory and PSU. So, I went to many other sites to verify what I was being told was correct. It appeared to be true and I made the next choice - OCZ it was to be.

From there, I wanted to learn everything I could about OCZ products. This was my next stop. The rest is history.

Cant believe I havent posted here yet....

I am a slacker (and blind to boot).

I first came to the BE because I had memory problems (back when this was also the OCZ support forums).

I stuck around, lurking mostly, reading what peoples problems were and the solutions people offered for the problems.

I really enjoyed the fact that there were a lot of knowledgeable peepz, who werent smart alecky about their knowledge, didnt talk down to people, and genuinly seemed to want to help.

Also, there werent (and still arent for the most part) post whores, who just want to up their post count ( now where is that 'doesnt it irk you when' thread again? ) with a bunch of meaningless drivel.

    to BE.
