May I ask why only 189MHz on the memory? Surely DDR500 should go much higher

Well I upgraded my mobo from a DFI NF2UltraB to this nice and shiny new Epox 9NDA3+ so I figured I should update my oc. Needless to say I'm happy with it.
Lots of people claiming super high oc's with the A64 boards but imho if it won't run Prime95 at least 12 hours it ain't stable. Since i did the screenie I've dropped the Vcore .05v. The Gold rev. 3 RAM is almost as fast as my PQI TCCD. When I was testing I got the OCZ (2x512) up to 260MHz and the PQI (2x256) up to 268MHZ. The 3000 Winchester multi is upward locked so I can't go higher then 9x and since it was soon apparent that the CPU could run higher than the RAM I dropped the RAM divider from 200 (1:1) to 166. As you can see that at a core speed of 295MHz my RAM is at 241MHz.

Here is what I was running my 3500+ I never checked prime stability for more than an hour but I ran F@H 24/7 and never had a problem gaming. Now I am trying to see what I can do with my new ram and a 3000+ due in tomorrow.

neokenzo - its really hard to read your SIG. You might consider using a larger font and/or lighter color. Had to highlight it to be able to read it.
harleybro - nice oc btw. Its gonna be tougher with a 3000 and the 9x multi.
When I got my new board and before I figured out how to best utilize the HT and the memory divider I was maxed out at 9x268 Prime stable. I started looking around and saw people over at some of the overclocking forums posting some outrageous numbers and most of them said that Prime95 wasn't relevant to the A64 processors. That's probably because they couldn't run prime stable. At some of the other forums I belong to we call that a suicide run. Nice for bragging rights but not really useful for anything else. It was considered that for a valid oc you had to post a screenie with at least cpu-z, Prime95 (12hr min) and 3DMark all showing on a full screen capture. Personally I think that its still a valid requirement. I can run my 9NDA3 at 338 core freq but its anything but stable. Here are some of the FSBs I tried:
At 8x340 I couldn't boot into Windows.
At 338 Windows would start but crash if I tried SuperPi.
At 330 I would would crash out of 3DMark.
At 325 3DMark wouldn't load properly.
At 320 everything worked but my Sandra and SuperPi benches were lower than with the 9 multi and my temps were 50-51°C running Prime95 so I went back to 9x295.
You guys can both run the higher multis so you can run your RAM at the 200MHz or 1:1 divider setting. Depending on what RAM you have you can run 250-270MHz and get the full potential from it.
Since i'm stuck with the 9x or lower multi and my RAM will crap out at 260 for the OCZ Hynix and 268 my PQI TCCD. I have to use the 166 setting which is an /11 divider. There have been times when I regretted not buying a 3200 but lately I've seen a lot of people complaining that some but not all of the 3200's don't do that well so I think I did alright after all.

Bill I have actually seen some real nice OC's on the 3000+. I am a member over at AMD forums and I will say they have done very well. The 3000 and the 3500 are talked about most outside of the FX's. I actually would rather do more with my 3500 have seen posts hitting 3 on H20 but unfortunately my memory controller seems to be taking a dump at high fsb. When I get my 3000+ in I will try and run everything you mentioned and get a screenie here. Thanks for the input about your clocks.
I use the same name over there as well so if I can supply you with anything usefull don't hesitate to PM me.

See rig...
1:1 Divider but can't get 2.6GHZ fully stable but I might try using some dividers.

Hey wassup guys i'm a bit new here so just wanted to stop by and say hiDid you say a64 isn't prime stable? well I got prime stable for 22hour + before I stopped it
I do agree about not being prime stable with alot of winchester users to me priming for 8 hours is hardly priming my system failed at 2610mhz at the 9th hour of priming before it crashed. Now i'm running stable at 2565mhz prime and PI stable. I had to reseat my waterblock which I think is the cause of my system crashing at 2.6ghz.
My system specs are:
Athlon 64 3000+ 90nm 1.8ghz oc to 2565mhz
Msi Neo2 Platinum
PQI Turbo Samsung TCCd 2x256MB 1:1 timing
BFG 6800nu 128MB
H2o Watercooled

I can't get past 2.75Ghz no matter what I do ... I tried 2.3V CPU and 3.4V on the ram ...
My last mod to this board is going to be a mosfet WB and a NorthBridge WB.

Nice Blueball - I followed the link to your project thread and its quite impressive. Like I said above - lots of people claim unlikely oc's but your photo documentation is awesome. Yes 11383 is right up there with an oc'd 939.![]()

I have never liked prime95 ... boring.
I prefer real world tests .. like 3DMark and Gaming.
I generally run my system at 2.1V CPU and 3.1V DDR ... and 2.65Ghz
I am going to Vmod my mobo and push 2.5V+ when my TEC's are installed and working properly. It's either THAT or my NB cooler. I will mod both soon enough.

I am idiot, what I really need is a better power supply. I have a mediocre Aspire 500W w/ 34A on the 12V Rail. I am gonna sell that and buy a 420W OCZ Powerstream... w00t

I'm pretty happy with the NeoPower so far SLaY3r. I don't have all those extra wires to deal with either.
