    Default Singularity first look

    Just got this game.
    Installed right now.
Played for about 15 minutes (thats all I can handle).

    Here is my summation.

    1. FOV. Terrible. It has to be less than 30. HAS to. Even Borderlands didnt make me this sic. sigh.
    2. Resolution. What is resolution? You know, that thing you change that makes absolutely NO difference to the game whatsoever? Yeah, that thing. 1680x1050 my arse.
    3. Sound. 5.1 ? Huh-uh. 3.1. Sigh.
    4. Keybindings? You guessed it. Gamepad over keyboard/mouse again. del/end/pagedown/etc NOT seperately bindable from numpad. SIGH.
    5. Quicksave. Whats that? Apparently the dev's dont know what it is either.
    6. Screen tearing. Getting a LOT of it. 120hz monitor. Never saw over 121 fps, but it sure tears like I have a 60hz monitor.
    7. Sprint/Run. Wow. I must be an asthmatic 700 pound person with nothing below the knee's. A WHOLE 3 second sprint! Amazing !!
    8. Walking on a ship? Am I? No? It sure looks like it, with that crappy 'breathing' up and down motion the image does. This does NOTHING but exacerbate the nausea.
    9. Story. Yay. Recorders (like borderlands) AND scattered pieces of paper (with no voice-overs). I dont mind the recorders, but scraps of paper? Come on.
    10. Saves. You have NO idea when it saves. There is no icon. There is no way to tell when it saved. What a joke. I have had to do the same thing 3 times now, because I thought 'surely, it must have saved here, and I can quit w/o worries, right?', only to find out that no, it didnt save.
    EDIT:
Saves do show. It says: Saving content. please do not turn off the computer.
    Or some such thing.

    Thats all I have.
    Really.
Even after 10 minutes of NOT playing the game, I still feel like I am on a ship and am going to throw up.

I simply cannot play this game any more than I have.

    OK.
Found a tweaks site that had an FOV fix for it, listed here:
    Regedit:
    “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Activision\Singularity"
Add a 'DWORD' named “FieldOfView”, double click, change to Decimals, and add your value (90, 100, 110).

90 was ok for me, but I still had to go higher (to 110).

Here is the site that has the tweaks:
    http://segmentnext.com/2010/06/29/si...v-freezes-fix/

I am playing now, but I just got to the point where I got my 2nd weapon, not very far into the game at all.

Will post some more over the weekend, when I can really get into the game.

Well, have played a few hours more.

So far, an ok game that has way too many shortcomings (see the list in original post).
The FOV is a real killer.
Sometimes it will be 110, but then reverts back to 30-ish, with no rhyme or reason.
    It is slow too.
    Slower than Bioshock.
    Frustratingly slow.
And there is no scaling whatsoever.
Everything looks exactly as big at 1280x1024 as it does on 1680x1050.

If it goes on sale for $10 or less, I would say get it for pc. If you are going to play it with a controller on a 42" + screen, then pay what you will.

There is a trainer out there that will address the slowness issue, but I shouldnt have to use one (and it uses all pre-configed keys anyway, and I use those keys for gameplay (numpad), and it got way too frustrating trying to use it).
    Go suck an egg, activision.
    :P

Really, because of the last 3-4 games I have bought, I am going to have to start 'demo'ing' these games before I buy.
If it doesnt have any real computer support, they arent getting my money anymore.

    Just finished the game.

It got better 1/2 way through or a bit more.
    More like a FPS.
But those stupid bugs/spiders/crawlers are irritating as all get out.
Why do dev's put them in?
    Does ANYONE like them?

    I would give it a 6/10.
