The pictures you have posted show the power LED connector for the case. If it is not hooked up correctly, it should not cause the problem you describe. Your case power LED would just not work.

You say the computer completely powers down? As in everything including case fans turn off?

yes everything shuts down and comes right back on. one guy suggest i look at the standoffs on the motherboard they appear to all be there. i didn't build this one just trying to see why it shout down. but notice he has a bolted down heat sink with a after market fan attach that's bolted directly to the motherboard.? should stand offs be there as well.

It could possibly be a grounding issue where something that shouldn't be is touching the case. How long does it stay in the OS before it reboots? If you boot into the BIOS does it stay on? If so does it show the CPU temp in the BIOS? I recall a rig doing that when the heatsink for the processor was not seated properly and it would overheat then try to reboot.

sometimes its an hour or more before it goes off. i didn't check to see it over heated . but when it dose go off it like you just push rest. that how fast it would reboot.

It seems strange it doesn't corrupt the OS. I would definitely try some temp monitoring software though. Have you got another PSU you could try in it? Also a new battery for the CMOS might be worth a try and I would also advise you to run Memtest86+ as well, Link, some of the strangest issues come from bad RAM.

You running XP with this? Is it possible it could be a BSOD that's getting masked by the default reboot on BSOD setting? http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...l_02may13.mspx
