Okay, try this (for now) and let us know if you like it or not.

When you click on either "Reply to Thread" at the bottom (left side) of the thread or "Reply" at the bottom of each post (right side) the "Quick Reply" box will open.

If you want the more advanced reply then you will then need to click on the "Go Advanced" button at the bottom-right corner of the quick reply box.

Try it and see if you like it. With the new version, this may be the only way to allow quick reply.

    Thanks

lol...after you click on reply to thread or even reply to a post the quick reply box will appear. If you want the smilies and other editing features (ex. bold, font size, etc.) then you need to click the "go advanced" button.

    So basically:
    - quick reply = one click
    - not-so-quick reply = two clicks

    Make sense now?

Yes, it is a work in progress but it may also be that this is the way the new version is set up and requires some coding to get smilies in the quick reply box.

Not sure why two clicks still gets you a quick reply. What two things are you clicking?

2 clicks on anything and reply to thread at bottom left gets quick reply but when it post it looks like a regular reply ...I think....?????

It's all good with me Ron....Quick reply looks the same after it is posted and if i want the smileys I know where they are at...

It could be me?? Once I got the main box with 2 clicks instead of the quick reply....Not sure why

    Okay...I think I got it

One click or many clicks on the "+Reply to Thread" only gives you a "Quick Reply" box. To get the smilies from there you have to click on "Go Advanced".

One click on "Reply" for each post also gives you a quick reply. This time however, to get the smilies you can either click on "Go Advanced" or click on "reply" for the same post and it adds a quote.

BTW you will notice that each post in this thread has a reply link. This is important for using threaded mode (not sure if many use it). You can view this thread in different modes:
    - Linear Mode: displays oldest to newest posts in a thread (I use this)
    - Hybrid Mode: I think this is a mix of the two other modes
    - Threaded Mode: shows the original post, what is replied to the original post and also what replies were posted to a reply...hard to explain unless you try it out..

This later more is where it becomes important to either reply to the original thread post (i.e., post #1) or reply to another post in the thread.

When I first signed up to BE (and the first time I ever participated in a Forum) it defaulted to threaded mode and took me a while to figure it out and then figure out how to switch to linear mode.
