I took a couple of macro shots while camping a few weeks ago
    Check'em out...

This flower is so tiny, you couldn't tell with the naked eye that it had dark colored petals.

This sucker landed on our canopy and I was amazed at the size of his feelers. The shots aren't that great, the bugger wouldn't hold still.

Again, fairly small. Vibrant color to.

Here's some of the things we saw while in NYC.

The first three sets where all in battery park:

I didn't get the walls with all of the names engraved into it.

This was a sad sight since I saw the sculpture originally shining and no dents or holes in it.

A shot of Lady Liberty with the Circle Liner in front of it

    Now for some fun stuff:

    Jekyll and Hydes uptown:

The band that comes to life periodically while you are enjoying your dinner.

Frankenstein that comes down from the cieling and also is brought to life with strobes and flashes.

A shot of the oldest bar in the City. I didn't get the Mc in front of McSorley's. Women wheren't allowed into the bar until the 1970's when a court order required they be allowed in. They sell beer in two's and you can only order light or dark (they brew their own). Between me and my gf we must have had 5-6 rounds (4 beers in a round) They went down like water!

Lastly a shot of Times Square at night. This is looking away from the lit up area.

i went on a retreat this weekend... had fun with my semi-new digital camera and lens

i like candid pictures of people in motion...

i think i was so lucky to have so many contrasts of light/dark at the place we were at... at any given time of day you had these beautiful shadows all around the building

    canon xti (400D)
    tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens

How do you like the XTI? I am thinking of picking it up with a sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 lens.

I started posting some of my pics on flickr. Hope you enjoy.

i like it a lot. the only thing is that it's not a full frame camera like the 5D but it's handled all the shots i've posted pretty well.

i'm trying to get my second lens... trying to decide between the canon L 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM or the canon L 70-200 f/4 IS USM ... not sure how big of a difference the 1.2 loss of aperture will make for inside shooting w/o a flash.

    Default Jobs Best Views

Here is one of my jobs I did, just off the famous Sea to Sky highway here in Vancouver(West Vancouver). The guys' house was right on the edge off a cliff, looking at the Strait of Georgia, Howe Sound waters.

This was taken by me at the peak of the roof looking straight down, that ladder is a 32' ladder strapped together and hooked onto the peak, it was still another 12' short from the bottom....

This one is of the water below...

Here is one of my work trucks/horses, that box on it is 12' long - 8.6' wide and 12' high from the ground up, just to give you some prespective of the picture....

One of my workers... I think I'll send this pic to his mommy

As hard as roofing is(labour intensive), there are the pay offs....

    Ahhh the views...

I would go with the f2.8 version. Far more options when shooting - not just inside shooting but depth of field. Always better to go with the larger apeture.

Personally I wouldn't spend the extra cash on IS. I would rather spend it on a better lens or on other stuff. I can hold a camera fairly still (from years of practice shooting film) so the extra money just for image stabilisation isn't for me (but just IMO).

    but canon doesn't make a 70-200 w/o IS

i know it's not absolutely necessary but it comes with it... what am i supposed to do, tell them to remove the feature and give me a discount?

i need a telephoto lens!!! but man, why are they so expensive!!!!????

but photography is wonderful. i'm really starting to love it more.

i've always had a passion for it but now that i've seen what i can do, i just want to keep pushing to do more...

but as i get into this hobby... others will suffer... need cash... must fund addiction...

    edit:

i take it back. canon does make a 70-200 w/o IS! and it's $500 cheaper w/o IS!! AMAZING!

I would use the 500 for another lens or better flash, etc.

well after further discussion, i went with the 70-200 f/4 IS USM

i think it should be fine for me. i'm excitd!!!

now i gotta sell off a bunch of computer stuff... hehehe

    edit:

the reason i went with the f/4 is because it is a much sharper lens than the f/2.8's are at this focal length/interval from talking with someone and looking at reviews at:

When you've been doing it for 13+ years, it's just like a routine, you know like brushing your teeth, or rock climbing, minus the rope and harness.

Managed to break the lens on my Olympus E330 while on holiday, so I had to use a Soligor that cost me £6 off ebay. Focal equivalence is 200-400, not very useful for wideangle!
