Using FSB multipliers and memory dividers one can get a lot accomplished depending on the CPU's available multi's. Never had an IC7, you should send it to me so I can get rid of this old P4C800-E Deluxe I have still in service....

so the new intels dont have "north bridge strap" overclocking?

never had an Abit Ai7 or an Ic7? you missed out, lots of endless hours of overclocking fun

the p4c800 was boring by comparison, and quite a bit slower when overclocked. took us months to figure out the Abit boards

can you guys still OC the northbridge like we can on the older Ai7/Ic7s?
Well the high fsb is unavoidable with the low multi's we have to work with now, my 8400 has a 9 multi, so I have to run 600fsb to hit 5.4ghz, this makes it very hard since the chipset and ram has to be capable of doing that (on 965 and P35 chipsets there is no way to run memory slower than 1:1).

We can play with nb straps, most boards allow you to set what strap you want to run in bios. There is also a new PL (performance level) setting which has a large affect on memory performance, this can be set using Memset if there is no option for it in bios.
