It doesn't hurt to have them in your sig as well. some search engines will direct people here if the signature specs match the query.

Quick test with Google to find user specs with p4c800. It found a ton of posts but no user specs.

Some thinking to do on this one.

I believe the info (for user Rig specs) is in the code for the page when the page is generated, but is only displayed when you mouse over/click the rig specs, but it might just read it from the database when asked.

If the former is true...then the bots would find the specs anyway because they crawl the HTML...they don't see it visually like we do.. AFAIK.

Even so......would you rather be more searchable and have to scroll for a half hour to get to the bottom of a thread, or not?

I kinda like being able to just look at the bottom to see if the specs are there...then as a second option I go for the rig specs drop down.

Do you guys think we should move more toward no rig specs in the sig in order to declutter? Maybe more posts would fit per page if there weren't rig specs in sigs.

Well you can take what Ryder said as gospel. I just did a search for 3 of the items in my rig specs, and got a recent post where the specs only appeared in the drop down box. So let's keep it neat. This also explains why some of my searchers came up with no matching results (visable)

I think the only reason for concern depends on the format of which it is posted at the bottom.

Some people put it in a vertical point form which (if going into great detail) will created about 10 lines of space to cover. There are people who do the same thing with their rig specs as I do, small fonts and condensed to take up about of 4 or 5 lines and centered.

Than again, it can be shown that some banners at the bottom of a post can just aswell be larger than a normal rig posting and some include a rig posting after.

I don't think we should get rid of it, I just think we should create a proper format for the people who wish to post rig specs in their sigs.
