ouch sorry to here.. i had my 3200 Gold running 3.4-3.6v via 5v jumper for ages no probs so far but switched back to 3.3v jumper now once i heard about this
eva you should be fine with 3.4, if it has been working thus far on your UTT BH modules. just dont go below 3.3 while on +5.

    Question

What's wrong with using <3.3v at the 5v position?

AG at dfi-street has repeatedly stated not to do this so as to avoid overheating the voltage regulators on the board.............

So is there any new news to report?

Are folks starting to see the same thing happening with the redline series of ram?

    Cheers

Thinks kind of went quite on this front ... not sure what people have been doing ... 3.3 rail overvolt or just dealing with with.

I think the newer bios has lessened the "cold boot" issues, but this is non-the-less a sticky issue.

I'm wondering if/when they will provide the next version of this board.

Thanks. It did seem to get quiet on this front but then I don't hang out at DFI sites.

Well found some news on the redline series HERE.

Seems the problem is not limited to OCZ

Thanks for sharing. I've still got some fairly unpushed Mushkin Blue UTT in my DFI NF4, and was planning on mickey mousing a fan onto them soon and pushing beyond 3.3v

After this, I think I'll just play it safe and see what I can do with 3.3 and be happy. I don't need to be out of a computer for a week.

I have been following this issue for quite some time now, as I too have had the cold boot issue then the VX4000 died followed by the SLI-DR eventually dying... This is my theory... I used the high voltage jumper setting while not using ENOUGH voltage to the RAM. I was forcing the motherboard to take the 5v and turn it into 3.2 or even less... this is BAD! I should note that this was during NON-OVERCLOCKING sessions, and therefore not needing the extra voltage... BUT I should have switched the jumper back to 3.3v setting when I lowered the voltage - OOPS!
It may have affected my PSU as well - it's just not as rock solid as it was on day one, it's still operational.

    Short Description:
    Lazy = Lame

I have to thank OCZ and DFI for replacing the affected products... I feel that both companies fulfilled their obligation to me. Of course it wasn't until later that I figured out that it was something I DID! or at least may have been something I did... I don't really know, or care, I have moved on... For a while with a Gig of TCCD Geil One, and now I have 2GB of OCZ EL Platinum (infineon) neither need more than 2.7v for most anything I throw at them.

While I am a bit disappointed that the infamous VX + DFI high voltage combo is not the be all it is made out to be - don't get me wrong, it is a fast combo, it's just not a good 24/7 solution - I do NOT fault OCZ or DFI - they are bleeding edge companies doing what WE "bleeding edge customers" want them to! FASTER FASTER FASTER... so compromises are made... so what!

THIS IS THE BLOOD IN - BLEEDING EDGE!

I emailed OCZ support last week and was told that this issue had been fixed in the Expert board due to improved voltage regulation.
    Any thoughts on this?

Was there a fix for the SLI-DR board?
