Hi guys, I want to know if its still safe to get a DFI NF4 SLi-D & couple it with Twinmos (CH5) and Corsair (BH) to OC or just hold back till something Conclusive comes out?? My board will be arriving soon (next week) so I wanted to clear some doubts.

Leave jumper jp17 set to default position 1 & 2 until DFI come out with a fix.

I am not knowledgeable in these matters but this sounds to me as a hardware problem that cannot be easily fixed with a BIOS upgrade.

So what sort of fix can DFI offer?
I assume they will not be too thrilled at the prospect of replacing all these boards...

I am not sure that DFI can do it at a BIOS level either. They would have to have a recall on all the boards that are out there, and I would think that would be unlikely to happen. Best guess is that they will fix it in a revision of the board, or they will take out the option all together.

I agree Eva, it would suck...

    We need to remember though...

    1. We have never had a board with an option this high. If I am right, 3.2 has been the limit for a long time. Understandably so, since it has been running off the 3.3v line.

    2. We still have AT LEAST 3.2 available to us, which I think should be standard anymore. The mod allows us to have a little higher if you can increase the 3.3 onyour PS. I am not saying that we should not have more, but DFI took us in the right direction. It looks as if the ATI board will have a 4.0 option as well. I can't wait to see if theirs works any better.

Hopefully there will be a fix for this at the bios level, I just do not see it happening, but then again, I am not a BIOS engineer!

so uh, maybe i missed where it was pointed out.. bhy why the hell would you post something that people are saying is a huge problem with a mobo on a memory manufact website? why hasnt this been posted on DFI's forums? im sure you will get alot better response and answers than the typical " I dont Know" that you would expect to get on a website that has nothign to do with the actual mobo, other than they make memory for it.

You have missed an aweful lot. I am not sure which memory manufact you are talking about. Topboy has posted this at DFI-Street. Some have had their posts deleted about it. Topboy knows more about it than I do, and maybe he can re-cap it a bit for us.

This article was first posted here......Bleedinedge.com......and just for the record, this website does not affiliate with any memory companies or motherboard companies either. As far as i understand (And the owner of this website may wish to comment/correct me) BE is an independant site with the intention of providing a central place for reviews, discussions, and to basically spread some love to the users.

The article was also linked at xtremesystems.org and DFI-Street to name a few. Our chief news editor can comment on the other websites that were informed about this article.

When i posted this up at DFI-Street (which is affliated to DFI. As far as i understand the guys that run it are paid by DFI), my post was stopped and the thread was halted saying, please do not double post, use the search function, this has news has been posted before, but no link to a previous post was left for my reference).

Some other people tryed to post again at DFI only to get the same response.

We are waiting for DFI to announce a fix. If i see no movement on this matter over the next 2 weeks, then i will up the stakes some more as DFI would have had 4 weeks from my post.

They have known about this issue long before i posted, so i think by this time they would have had enough time to come up with a fix.

    Thanks Topboy for the clarification.

This site IS and independant site. Mikki has allowed OCZ to have a presence here, which has been a help to them, to BE and to the consumer. We review products from every vendor with nothing but truthfulness and honesty as a goal.

Topboy will keep up with this, and will let us all know how it pans out.

I have sent this news out to about 30-35 sites. Whether they choose to post or not is their decision. However, some have confirmed that this information was posted on their site. I have not confirmed if other sites choose to post this information.

This thread mainly outlines a concern we felt our members needed to know and believed that this information was of such import that we needed to distribute it to other sites involved in overclocking. Basically this information was not posted here in an attempt to develop solution but more for communication of information. Of course it would be great if any member would post up a solution which would be great news for all.

This information was not intended to bash any company, board or memory manufacturer. DFI makes some of the bst stuff out there and pushes The Edge to allow such options to be available. Sometimes unexpected things happen and hopefully they are fixed in a timely manner.

BTW the memory site really is www.ocztechnology.com. BE is the site for OCZ support forums. I must say it is a great company and great bunch of guys that help out. For this I am glad they are here

    Cheers

It is on DFI-Street, there is a sticky on it:

There is also this one, which I started before the sticky came along:

I don't believe in my voltage theory anymore - as RAM should startup at default voltage and the ram's SPD timings.

Thanks OzSnoal. I think you posted the cold boot solution up here as well (thanks )

Not so sure I believe in what is said about the voltage concern (no cause identified) or the deleted/closed thread issue (reason differs from the one given previously - but hey this is their site to "admin" ).

I wonder if this suggests that DFI will do nothing except work on teh cold boot issue with a bios change

    Hey OzSnoal

Did anyone mess around with the second thread you posted above? It looks like this is another thread that has been shut down based on the message:
