Decided to get some new ram, leaning towards OCZ..but I am notsure what Im going to get...Ive read the reviews (good ones Eva, BigToe and others!)..but Im still stumped.

    I have a 2.4C @ 285fsb

    going for 2x512 sticks.

    3700EL Gold Rev2?
    4200EL?
    4000EL Gold?

    currently got HyperX @ 218 c-3-3-7 @ 2.8v

i guess you might as well grab the 4200EL considering that they are being speed binned now, you may not get such great overclocks.

Why do u want a new gfx card?? You have a 9800pro flashed to XT

I have a spare PC and it needs a vid card to be complete..I figure:>

put a new vid card in the IC7/2.4C machine

-move its 9800Pro/XT to the A7N8X/XP3200+

-move its 9600XT to the 865pe/2.4B PC machine..

If your 2.4 can make it to 285FSB on air, shy away from the 3700's. They max out around 250FSB.

The 4000's are great, but the 4200's will make it to 285FSB w. a memory ratio of 1:1 without a hitch.

If your going for High FSB and 1:1 memory ratio, go for the 4200's.

Did you mean the hyper x is doing 5:4 and cas 2 or cas 3???

285fsb with a 5:4 ratio is 228 or 456ddr which is damn nice....

However let me give you my 2 cents...From my testing and I have done a bit albeit in mostly non gaming apps I would rather run 5:4 with some ram that can run cas 2 then have bragging right with ram doing 570ddr but need cas 3 to do it....If you had some Corsair or some good pc3700 stuff that can do cas 2 you can likely run something like 2,3,2,7 or maybe even 2,2,2,6 (but I don't see this as much) and that can in many cases trump 570ddr running cas 3,4,4,8....

Save the money!!! You don't need to waste cash for bragging rights as some do and gain probably a few if any percentage points over cheaper memory running 5:4 but tighter timings....The money saved can get you the best vid card and likely more tangible perceived performance...

I had access a while back to PC4300 stuff that I could run 1:1 at 510ddr on my 2.6c but it needed cas 3,4,4,8 and no cpc....I could also run 5:4 with my Geil pc3500 ultras at 408ddr but with cas 2,3,3,7 CPC enabled and even turbo in GAT....need I tell you which one was better??? Hint...I still have the PC3500 stuff!!!

Exactly...thats why I was wondering about the 3700 Rev2's...stay with 5:4 but tighter.

the HyperX only goes to 270 @ 5:4 @ 2-3-3-7 on 2.8v...could prob go a bit higher, but I havent pushed it much..

The 3700gold rev2 is good sync or async, it does around 260 with 2.5-3-3-7 timings and will do well async 5:4 also although a LOT of boards do seems to have a 285fsb limit 5:4 so watch out for that.

Also cas latency means nothing on 876 boards, running 3-2-2-6 is just as fast as 2-2-2-6..the only difference is cas2.5 or cas3 may get you stable.

TRP and TRCD are the most important timings...trust me

                  cool!

i really wanna try out the pc4200 and see if i can run at least 267 1:1 with decent timings.

this p4p800 board is killing me!!!

it maybe due to bandwidth issues so.. i wanna see what some 1:1 action will do for this board with PAT enabled (bigtoe bios hack).
