Oc'ing addiction knows no bounds... I grabbed two new 2.4C cpus from pcmarket.com.au making sure I'd be getting Malay instead of the three 2.4C costa ricas i got :)
both are
2.4C
Malay
Q322A285
22/7/03
- one has a smudged like finger print, the the cpu IHS's writing was more blurry like the other cpus I get.
- the other 2.4C had a very shiny mirror like IHS and the writing on the IHS was more clearer and darker making it very very readable compared to other cpus i've had - decided to test this one first with my 190cfm delta fans :D
P4C800-E 1011.02 beta bios
MCX4000 + 120x38mm Delta 190cfm fan on high speed
Results:
@280fsb at default vcore
= 1.525v it rebooted after 1 pass of memtest STD #1-7 tests
@275fsb at default vcore
= 1.525v memtesting for past 55 mins now error free :thumbup:
@277fsb at default vcore
= memtesting error free for past 35mins :)
-----
Q322A285 blew away my costas. Costa 2.4C only managed to do 275fsb at 1.7-1.775v vcore.
Very nice. . . . . Maybe everyone should buy a processor with a thumbprint. . . . ;)

well still testing the first Q322A285 and it is alot better than costas upto 275fsb @ default vcore, but prime95 errors in windows .. past 275fsb like costa still needs some considerable vcore (guess that's what the prommy is for heh)
all 3 screenies below are with 2.4C with 1.825v vcore

301fsb rebooted straight after the screenie was taken :o
1.825v can drop to 1.712v underload heh

I must be really unlucky then, today I got my P4 2.4C Q322 and guess what, it does not go over 2.9GHz, no matter how much voltage I feed it.
Temperature reported by Asus probe is pretty low, 48C running 2 instances of Prime95

Memory is running at 5:4 divider so it should not be the issue here.
The max I got out of this CPU until now is FSB246 = 2950MHz
This is at a vcore of 1.85v
Temp is at 53C under load (2 instances of prime95) according to Asus probe.
I believe this is just an unlucky cpu. The second one!
Before I had a 2.6v that would not go over 240FSB...
I need to buy pretested cpu's I'm getting fed up of wasting money. Any suggestions? I want to get to 3.3 - 3.4Ghz on air.

what memory you're using ?
You should start a new thread of your own ;)

Well I just wanted to share the fact that not all the malesian 2.4C Q322 are good.
I guess it all comes down to luck (for a change)
The board is an Asus P4P800D
If I back down the vcore to 1.8 or less (tried every step starting from 1.525v) the pc will either not boot or crash within a minute running Prime95

Guess it is luck

well just swapped in the 2nd one in and it is true 2.4C IHS with finger prints are better hehe
the one with the finger print is doing 283fsb at default vcore and 285fsb at default vcore errors in test #3 - could be related to my memory used XMS3500C2 in 5:4

Nice to see you got a couple better chips.Peroni,the "Q" malaysia's are never usually as good as the "L" Malaysia's.They are from different plants.

yeah seems to be L, Q then 3s heh
not prime stable but can do super pi

Doh, I should have known this before...well time to hunt down an L then

You might get lucky with a "Q",but its the "L" the one you want.I seen a few really good overclocking costa's "3",but its luck.You have a better chance with the "L" but it doesn't guarantee you anything.

yeah my 2nd Q322A285 is a keeper as i've finally find a good cpu :D
it can boot and run memtest and benchies/super pi at up to 283fsb default vcore, but priming had tried 1.55v, 1.575v, 1.6v, 1.675v bios and all don't prime95 v23.7
finally found the sweat spot which it primed for 2hrs before i stopped it @283fsb at 1.616v real vcore in windows (which was 1.725v in bios)
decided to bump up the fsb to see how far it goes at 1.616v real vcore, and so far i'm memtesting at 293fsb = 3514mhz :)
I think i'm going to hit 300fsb finally :D

well i can boot into windows at 296fsb @ 1.725v in bios but unstable
293fsb is still unstable @ 1.725v in bios
but 283fsb @ 1.725v in bios is prime stable some what

I don't know thugs.My IC7 didn't help raising vcore.I am more prime stable and clock further with the P4C800-E and the P4P800,go figure.The vdimm voltages on the IC7 sucks @ss.:na:

i was just pointing out the usual asus vcore flux ~ thats all.
(benches on default, but needs 1.65v to prime95)

I don't get much of a flux but the Asus still overvolts .06 .Some here in the forum were saying more like .025 but I get the usual .06 .Someone here in a Canadian forum was selling his IC7 Max 3 already.
