As I'm writing this I am in the process of converting my first divx to mpeg using Tmpegnc. What I am wondering is that when it is finally converted, will I be able to use windows movie maker to reduce the size so I can put it on a cd??? Keep in mind that quality doesn't matter at this time. I'm just trying to see if I can get these huge files off my hard drive and onto a disc. TIA

Hmmmmm!!!!!! Looks like it doesn't matter. I keep getting this error message at around 10% completion "Read error occured at address 000AC73E of module 'TMPEGnc.exe' with F608F15F". Looks like a memory error. What does anyone think?????

Crap!!!!!!!  This was supposed to go with my other post about divx to mpeg to movie maker. If you don't read that one first you won't understand this one. Sorry. :beat:

once TMPGenc has made the MPG it is ready for burning to s/vcd.
if its too big youll need to cut it in half to fit on 2 cds.

sounds like something in the oc is not stable....

Fisrt thing I would do is liook at the memory

1) run memtest 1 pass, you should get an error if it craps out of the program

2)raise vdimm a notch or drop cas timings if you can a bit

3) retry memtest

4) retry program

If that doesn;t work then look at the cpu oc...

1) raise vcore a notch then retest

2) otherwise drop fsb until you get it stable...

could be a bad divx encode or the audio is using a vbr. (variable bitrate)

Ok, so I finally got the 710mb divx transformed into mpeg. Now it is 1.72GB. It looks like I'll have to cut it into thirds to get it on cd's. I did some editing and changed the resolution and got it down to 563mb, but it was going to take over 200mins to create. So, my first question is, is that a normal time frame for my setup(P4B533,1:1,175FSB,3325MH,512MBRAM,2.5 3 3 7??? Second, would it take less time to split the whole 1.7gb movie into thirds and make 3 discs???? And finally, how do you split a movie up??? I can't seem to figure out how to do it. :(

the simplist way is to encode 3 different parts of the divx from within tmpgenc. just remember to write down where each part starts and finishes, and you may wanna overlap the last set of keyframes in each part.

or if cutting it after the encode ~ use virtualdub.
