I never installed a printer to a windows 2000 machine until today. Never needed a printer connected to a win2000 computer until today.

What am I missing? I have the same program installed on my win2000 Pentium 4 2.4 computer and my win98se Pentium II 500 computer. But the Pentium 4 takes so much longer to print a 29 page report than the Pentium II does. Why is my win98se machine printing faster than my win2000 machine? The printer is a HP 4100 laserjet. The report pages are generated quickly in the Pentium II per the on screen window but I see the pages generated slowly on the Pentium 4 in the on screen window there.

Is there enough free space on the P4 drive that holds the print queue?

The OS partition is 10 gigs with 4 gigs of free space.

How big does a print que need to be?

That should be ample. What type of printing? Local attached or via a jetdirect or IP based card?

Also, are you running that latest version of the drivers from the manufacturer?

Thanks for the reply Hawk.

It is being run over the LAN.

Data files on computer 'A' and program on computer 'A' vs the same data files on computer 'A' and same program installed on computer 'B' with output going to the same printer on the LAN printserver. I guess I'm just surprised at the lag in the 10/100 duplex LAN if that's what it is.
