Thanks to SkullMonkey selling his Swiftech H20-8500 kit, I have decided to venture into my first attempt at water cooling. SkullMonkey was nice enough to include some replacement coolant Nulon Ultracool from Supercheap.. thanks mate :)

I plan to use

2.4C
Epox 4PCA3+ or Albatron PX865PE PRO2 board
128MB Xmicro GF4 Ti4200 VIVO card
80GB Seagate Barracuda V
520W Topower Gold triple fan psu

Now the case i will use is the Chieftec AX01-SLD aluminium case which is basically the same as the antec ones pic below

http://www.fileshosts.com/chieftecAX01-SLD-web/web/IMGP0305.jpg

Now i could go with the typical setup i've see for this case and kit where the pump/fill and bleed is in the top 5.25" bay and the radiator at the back 80mm fan.

But was wondering if anyone here has ideas (with pictures if possible) of ways to move the entire water cooling kit outside of the case in a portable manner ? I read somewhere the height of placement of the pump or something needs to be taken into account for this kit ??

I'll have to assemble it in my garage and then move the whole pc into my room about 20-40 metres away as my room is very very cramped :o

Also some general questions

1. how do you clean out the used tubing before use... rinse under tap water okay and let it dry ? or still need distilled water for that ?

2. Nulon Ultracool and distilled water, anything else i need to add to this mixture ? How long between maintenance do i have to clean or pump out and refill it ?

3. Clearflex tubing from group guy.. i was told i'd need to get barb adaptors to be able to use this Clearflex tubing with this Swiftech H20-8500 kit.. adaptors like these

are these both the same just different colours ?

thanks guys :)

80mm fan - hmmm, pretty low air flow of H2O, but I'm not familar with this setup.

A couple of FWIWs...

1. Don't forget to assemble the entire H2O system in the case (w/o hardware) and run it for 24 hours to be sure you have no leaks.

2. I personally like to use silicone RTV to seal all the barb fittings, that way the probability of a leak due to a bad fit is nearly zero.

3. You want to have the pump as close to the level of your waterbock as possible so that you have the maximum head pressure (and flow rate).

There are LOTS of external setups - there are some at ABX's H2O thread, lots at overclockers.com, hardocp forums, xtremesys...etc..

Been thinking of an external setup myself, since (1) the case is crammed full and (2) I can't keep this MAX3 cool when running everything flat-out. My additional questions:

1) Once you test everything w/o the electornics present, do you then have to drain the whole works to mount the waterblocks?

2) I was thinking of using one of these cases to mount everything in:

Is this overkill for an enclosure? Should I just go with something Rubbermaid? It's almost tall enough for the pump to be level with the blocks.

3) Could I mount the ususal cheap-o heater core inside instead of spending out the wazoo for a nice rad?

4) If I had the CPU and NB on water, is there then a "rule of thumb" minimum airflow for the case? HDs still generate a lot of heat, as does the video. I really want to get the noise down, tho, especially if I'm adding more fans in this box.
