Hi all

Im hoping to get support for the issue I encountered today. So, I began to build up a ´new´ machine using A7N8X Deluxe, CPU 2400+ T-bred, 160GB SATA seagate and samsung DL DVD-RW burner in Nexus Breezer case (400W). The system has got a 1.44", too. ;) The picture is controlled with Radeon 9800 pro. Im not going to run RAID, only single mode with 1 HDD in my rig.

The issue is as follows:

The bios detects the DVD-RW in IDE-2 slot as a master, OK but the Seagate SATA drive cannot be detected. Drive is attached to primary SATA connector (pri_sata1) on mobo. I do not know the BIOS version (in fact dont know how to / where to check it). I have jumper enabled Serial ATA setting i.e. 1 and 2 pins "jumpered". According to my knowledge there is no place to control SATA in bios.

However the screen that with a text something like "SiL RAID driver..." before the boot sequence DOES list my Seagate SATA -> conclusion: the BIOS detects it afterall?

Tried to install XP corp. ed with no luck. Second time I pressed F6 to give SATA drivers (NVIDIA storage controllers) for the mobo/XP but no luck -> Setup gave me an error code (code #7)/or errors occured while copying files from the I386 directory etc.

Can anyone hint me what to do? The retailer told me that even though the mobo uses SATA133 ´channel´ one can use SATA150 drive on it with decreased bus (150->133).

When commanding the boot order in the bios should I use SCSI or HDD-0 to my SATA drive?

Im totally lost atm. Maybe I should have bought ordinary IDE HDD... ;)

Thanks in advance,
tipsy

So, have you copied the SATA drivers from the CD that came with the motherboard onto a floppy, then install them when it asked you to press F6 when installing Windows? If so, and the drivers show on the floppy before you are about to install them, but then get errors, it could be bad drivers or a bad floppy drive. Have you tried downloading newer drivers off the web? And maybe try a new floppy drive?

;)

Changed the DVD ide-cable from IDE2 to IDE1. It helped and system is running stable. With 1006 (not afterwards) bios one must use SCSI in boot order to be booted from SATA...

Thanks for your interest and time.
