You Mosaic/Godzilla the Killa hybrid users out there...how do you like it? I'm thinking of jumping ship on IE.

Thanks

I used it for a while and did not like it. Went back to IE.

IE is using Mosaic. Go to Help About in IE and it states: Based on NCSA Mosaic. :)

I use Firefox most of the time but for some odd reason for development, IE is still better for me. Don't understand why using w3c standards for CSS that Firefox has a problem with just one frame. Not using any depreciated code and most definitely am not using dirty code. Really frustrating.

Mozilla is Godzilla eating Mosaic for lunch, I have heard it rumored anyway...

Hey pointreyes, I just finished a HTML/JavaScripting class, I give you major props for playing it straight in your coding - right on  .

If i was not so lazy I'd give firefox a try. But the idea of learning a new browser frankly just does not appeal to me, and sadly although I find IE irrating at times, specially the sizing of a new window when opening a reference link (that annoys me like heck, used to be good in IE5, and lost it going forward).

Anywho, just don't really know of a compelling reason to switch frankly. Mind you more of the learning curve thingie I think, same as asking people to go from MS Word to WordPerfect I guess. Although it was vice versa not so long ago..lol.

Umm, where is my Quatro Pro?

Oh..??!!!

Ummm...well now that might provide an incentive to give it a shot. What about all the favorites, do they port over?

Yep! Just transfer settings over - when you set up it'll ask if you want to transfer settings from IE - its as simple as that! If you add any in FF hen go back to IE, you can import them back again as well!

Ya, it was very streamlined, the switch. The only thing is that it put my favorites back in alphabetical order so I had to rearrange them the way i like. definately a minor inconvenience.

Also, I did the "Speed up Firefox" (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1299854/posts) tweak and it seems to have helped load things quicker. I went Googling about the sluggishness it seemed to have at first, but now that I tweaked it, and now that it has also made itself comfortable in my OS - BAM, it's very fast now. I know this sounds strange but it's like it was trying to get comfortable for the first hour or two, then hencforth it has been very fast, no difference from IE at all in speed.

Lastly, a litle gripe; I have to say that images take a little longer to load it seems - like I get those little boxes with the red x placeholder while the images are waiting to load. But even that has improved some since last night...

Heh...S'funny, I generally find FF quicker for loading! Also, when you import back from FF to IE, it seems to put the bookmarks in alphabetical order, heh not too useful that! Unless the next release of IE is substantially better, I won't be going back.

Oh BTW - BE usernames that use a colour, such as MOTEs - the colour doesn't show in FF for some reason - I can live without that!
