After reading anandtech's roundup of 865/875 mobos, and more importantly looking at the overclocking fsbv results I have come up with these 6 choices....I am not partial to 875 since many of the 865 mobos seem to be able through the bios initiate the PAT performance anyways and are often loaded with the SATA raid and other features of the 875 mobos.
I like the 865 for the cost, but if many don't think I can hit at least 270fsb with these boards, please let me know if the 875's fair better.

You have to get an IC7 since we always have the same mobo! (I'll overlook that 4G4A thing) ;)
The PAT/GAT/MAT/PHAT thing on 865 boards is kind of hoaky. It doesn't work with a mem ratio, if you overclock, on a Wednesday if it is raining, etc. PAT always works on 875. The IC7 is not much more than an 865 board. The 875 boards do seem to be able to handle higher FSB speeds as well. The Asus P4C800-E looks like a great one too.

May be a bit more then I want to spend if I can get same performance with the IC7.....This is a brief stop over before I jump to a prescott and need a new mobo anyway...
Thanks for the info on the IS7 Oldfart. I think I want the PAT to work right so I will avoid the i865pe mobos. Is this the same way in the asus i865pe mobos???
You are right I gotta have same ****e as yours so we can compare...

Personally ive been looking at the 4PDA2+ v2.0 with some interest. Im waiting for some forum comments on it first though. At a quick glance though it seems to have it all. Plenty of vcore, vdimm and vagp, 300FSB in the ocprices.com review near enough and performance that basically matches a canterwood board.
Certainly worth a glance at.....
Failing that the P4C800 is the best of the crop, no doubt. Try and get an early one second hand if you can, they seem to have more FSB headroom than the later models.
Tony has also had some success with the P4P8X and flashing to the P4P800 bios (ask him for details, theres a specific method to it), so thatd be my choice failing the 2 above.

bump for a bit more results!!! Asus is in the lead. PPl take price in effect as bang for the buck is always nice. Meaning if I get same performance but a few features (non ocing related) less is fine...

My vote goes for P4C800 non deluxe or P4C800-E. I own the first and have been more than happy with it. :)
For quick stop in i875 land, I'd go with either the P4C800 non deluxe or IC7 (non G).
My personal prefs are with Abit, I think they have finally overcome all their BIOS "issues" in their i875 chipset boards with bios 1.7 and I still think Asus boards vcore fluctuations are a bit too much for some extreme OCing. Just my 2cents.
I don't think going with an i865PE would be wise at this time as the prices of the two above boards are relatively low anyway, so why chance it?

THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS....
Hmm... last time I ran a similar poll Abit came out on top, this time, the Asus p4c800 did. (and then I stupidly bought another AMD system  ).
