I just ordered an XP-90 on Friday. Well wouldn't you know it, but yesterday I was surfing around and found out that Thermalright has a new HSF called an XP-90C. It's exactly like the XP-90, but instead of all aluminum, it's all copper. It's supposed to be a better performer than the XP-90, and is supposed to be available the end of March. Anyone heard anything about this? I saw a post on another forum by a guy who says he's been testing it and he said it performs 2 to 3 degrees cooler than the XP-90, and about 1 degree cooler than the XP-120. All I could find are German and French sites:

At a whopping 690 grams, no thanks. I'll keep using the aluminum model.
That weight has to be stressing the limits of the mb's HS mount.
Does anyone here know the specs for the K8/P4 HS mount and motherboard loading?

found this:
Due to the additional weight of the XP-90-C the P4 version includes a metal frame and back plate that must be used to insure proper weight distribution so the motherboard will not get warped due to excessive weight.
Specifications:
The XP-90-C weighs in at 690g without a fan installed, with a fan, the XP-90C weighs approximately 810g.

As per AMD Athlon64 and AMD Opteron Processors Thermal Design Guide, AMD Pub #26633, page 18, the maximum recommended heatsink mass is 450g. I would say it is safe to go with a little more weight, but you should be very careful working around the installed heatsink or when moving the computer.
