Anyone know how to enable DMA on a drive, more specifically in W2K Professional, on a DVD drive. LTD-163D/XJ HD163D
Thanks

In the Device Manager expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers list. Depending on which channel you have your drive on-select that channel by right-clicking on it and select properties. There should be an Advanced Settings tab, click that tab.

i will see if it's in that tab...
i thought i went thru that route already...
but i will see tonight
more info on my situation:
i had both my CDRW and DVD drive on same channel, which the CDRW is my master drive and DVD is the slave. But for some reason my CDRW shown DMA on and DVD shown DMA off...
and i got my read problem back again after i mess around something i don't really know i did...so my DVD drive won't read anything... :smash:

Sometimes the DVD prefers to be the wife er, master.
What brands of drives are you using? Some of the older models required a jumper to force DMA. Also, cable select instead of wife/husb, whoops  I mean master/slave can help out.
