View Full Version : Egosoft X2 Rolling Threat Demo/Benchmark
Egosoft has released a demo movie of their upcoming Sim X2 The Threat . It's an impressive Demo/Movie showing the games features but best of all it has a nice benchmark built right into it. This Benchmark may prove useful to us as it really stretched my TI4600 to it's limits. Word of advice, don't enable Shadows and AntiAliasing unless you have a fine piece of hardware in your AGP Port. ;)
I ran a few quick benchies to see how it does:
220FSB = 73.57 FPS
235FSB = 75.169 FPS
250FSB = 77.43 FPS
TI4600 O'clocks
297/650 = 77.038 FPS
315/693 = 79.60 FPS
321/732 = 80.587 FPS
330/761 = Lock up :(
Download it here from Egosoft (http://www.egosoft.com/x/xmain.php?language=49&display=demo)
Don't worry, it comes down in English. :D
Ck it out and post your benchies here.
I'll give it a try when I get home from work today. . . . :beer:

this looks like it uses the Descent/Freespace engine and of course is DX9 supported. it takes a good 6-7 mins to run the benchmark and it does playback sounds and music too. (there is a check box for the "default" benchmark)

this is looking good guys :-)
its about time we got some nice DX9 stuff to benchmark so we can leave the older (DX7/8) stuff behind.
dont forget to try shadows enabled! looks way better (and should be on by default IMHO)
Hawk ~ no ultra, just a reg 5900.

P4 @ 3.2Ghz | 51.75 | FX 5600@ 365/680|Shadows On= Overall average framerate: 41.928 fps :yummy:
LOL Shadows on and oc'ed gfx with the 51.75's is just as fast as my 45.23 gfx oc'ed with shadows off :p
These 51.75's seem to excel in aquamark 3, x2 and 3D Mark 03. In 01 they're slower though and everything else i can't be bothered checking :p Maybe Nvidia did fix the PS 2.0 problem a bit.
Hey thugs wat made u go from 98SE to XP??
Also if u guys haven't give 2003 Server a shot, it could be worth a try, as I reckon its faster and stabler than XP, but thats only my opinion.
