View Full Version : Help BLUE SCREEN not a normal blue SCREEN!

Well just today I'm experencing blue screen wif some filename or name labled Machine_ n it goes on i forgot it anyways... ya it happens n then just now a pop up wif a warning thing saying D:/temp lost data or some thing n then it went to blue screen n ya n the D drive is my western digital 80 gig hard drive mean while i bought it few months ago anyone know why this is happening or is my HD failing on me already!

write down exactly what it says the next time you get that blue screen that's not a normal blue screen (??) and then post it here...if you are still having the problem wif your PC that is... ;)

Well I scanned my D drive which is the 80 gigger WD HD anyway it found few bad files n then i scanned it again n it took longer n this time found 2 bad clusters n it fixed it since then never ran into the same blue screen no more YES! lol lets hope I fixed the problem

If you have bad clusters on the drive and this happens again, there is a utility from Gibson Research called Spinrite that can low level format the drive w/o loosing the data, and move it to save locations.

Yeah Kev, good luck on the harddrive! Hope it doesnt crash and shatter.

Wait so wut does it do accually? it doesn't format or does it? I'm confused

Yes, it formats, but it also saves the data. It moves the data and tests the drive. Rad up on it, its one of the best disk utilites out there.

Cool, it must save the data to a part of the drive, then format the other part and move the data to the newly formatted piece, and format the rest!
Damn, I thought of that years ago. :beat:

Kev_Dawg: Low-level formatting writes zeros to the entire drive, then writes a new FAT (File Allocation Table), you may have heard of FAT 16, FAT 32, NTFS, etc. Well I am pretty sure that is how it is done, correct me if I am wrong. :scratch:
This (if I am right) program will move your data aroud the HDD and format parts that your data is not currently on. Basically it would help with your bad sectors, and eliminate them causing any potential errors. :thumb:
