Hi all. I just built a new comp with a SATA HD (WD caviar 120gb). Do I need to install SATA driver before installing XP (it's Pro that dates back to 2002)? If so where do I find the driver? The HD came OEM and without any disk or CDs... I'm currently getting some CAB file corruptions could this be related?

Thanks for any help...

Oh and if you have *any* suggestions about the BIOS, feel free to tell me... I'm a n00b!!! (last system I built was over 5 years ago... Which ironically is working better than the new one, albeit much slower)

Specs:
Giga-byte GA-K8NF-9 (nForce 4X chip set)
AMD 64 3500+ (Winchester build... I think...)
Western Digital Caviar 120Gb SATA
OCZ dual channel 512Mb x 2 PC3200

XP Pro w/ SP1a

Check on the CD that came with the motherboard. SATA chip drivers should be on there. Once you found them copy them onto a floppy and boot the Windows CD, when its loading itll ask to press F6 (I think) to load drivers for the SATA device. Once youve loaded the drivers you should be all set to go. Also, if Im not mistaken, the NF4 chipset has native SATA, so once chipset drivers are all updated you shouldnt have to install seperate SATA drivers.
