I just simply dont know the right (prfect/most recommended) process to update my P4P800 Bios!

I have the 1008.004 Bios, and want to update to 1009 final.

So I got a P4P8001009.ami file, now what?

1.Do I need some other files?
2.Should I rename the Bios file?
3.Should I use first 1006whatewer.exe to flash? How?
4.How to backup my old BIOS?
6.What is the whole process?
7.Whitch Bios flasher to use? Afudos or Ezflash?

Please Help, this will be my first Bios flashing!

doesn't Asus have a flash upgrade tool for windows (assuming you are using windows)?

Most flashing via Windows has been refined to a point where most users deem it safe...but if you relly want to be on the super safe side flash wiht DOS...Steps:

1. Go to Boot Disk (http://www.bootdisk.com) and download Dr. Dos 7.X this will allow you to make a bootable floppy using the best DOS available for flashing.

2. Then go to here (http://www.asus.com/support/english/techref/bios/index.aspx) and follow the rest of the steps outlined for the P4P800.

But I need to use AFUDOS with my P4P800 motherboard, and thats not the sam -I think- , some steps of the procedure may differ!
Like how to specify in the comman line, and how to save my current BIOS.

I want to update it to
1009.ami[QUOTE/I] (this is the file, I have downloaded from ASUS), from my current BIOS version [QUOTE]1008.004!

Isnt
.004 means that its just a beta version?
Maybe I need to Flash it with
1006.exe first and just after with the newest one, to have a full process?!

Couse some said that I maybe need it sometimes....

All new BIOS releases including betas have all the stuff that the preceding release had and more so you should be OK as long as you get the BIOS from the manufacturer of your board.

I've flashed both ways with Windows and with DOS atleast 100 times and have been very lucky so far never to have an issue with a flash...as long as you follow Asus's protocol you should be OK.

ANYONE knows that if 1008.004 was beta or a final version of BIOS?
After I bought it in the shop and take it home, I find that I have the 1008.004 BIOS version in my MOBO, but I think it was not the one that the manufacturer (ASUS) flashed in originaly.
Mobos dont came with beta version bioses!

I think that the guys who worked in that shop, just came to try the 1008.004 beta on my mobo, before they selled it 4 me!

So now Im simply dont know what was my original Bios version!
If it was before 1006 final, than i must backflash it with 1006.exe first to get the new one (1009 final in 1009.ami file) flashed on after properly...
Or what?!

Just use the Asus EZ flash built in. It tells you how right in the manual. Basicly, you just download the bios you want and rename it "P4P800.ROM", put it on a floppy and reboot. When the post screen comes up, hit <ALT>+<F2>, it will go into the flash utility and look for the P4P800.ROM on the floppy and flash it. You can also put the bios on a cd if you don't have a floppy drive, works the same.

BTW, I flashed my P4P800 with the new BETA bios from ASUS site the other day and so far, it sucks...lol. I was running stable at 262fsb with my 2.6c, now i'm lucky to be able to run prime for 30 minutes at 250fsb.... I'm going back to 1007. :)

You think that the 1009 final is a crap to?
What about 1008 final?!

I'm not saying the BETA one is crap.... just isn't working for me. I can't help you with the 1008 or 1009, I went from 1007 to the BETA. I may try the 1009 final and if it doesn't work out I'll go back to the 1007 that I know works for me.

1008.004 was the beta bios and is the one that I am using currently.
