Good job Hawk...I don't have 1gig, but these things IMO are one of the handiest gadgets someone invented.
Great little devices, but what I neglected to add in the review was what about Corporate America? or Corporate Europe? These are a major means to steal data and can actually be destructive in the wrong hands.

Very very true.... :yup: :yup:
We will see lots of added policies in coporate networks, and actually probably already have.

Definitely dangerous but not any more so than laptops.
I can see a day where you won't need to carry a laptop with you. All you will need is in you're handy little jump drive - all the other hardware will stay put. Man I would love to see that day come sooner rather than later.
So when are they coming out with the 100GB version so I can rid myself of HDD's?

Don't know. . . . The largest Thumbdrive and CF cards I have seen are in the 8GB range. Once I get one, expect to see some comparison numbers.
Sorry, but they still have 92GB to go for you. ;)
BTW, I have another unit in route that claims to be a 2GB unit w/ these speeds:
24MB per second Read (160X)
18MB per second Write (120X)
The unit in the review I wrote claimed these speeds:
Read speed: 8MB per second
Write speed: 6MB per second
That means the new 2Gb unit I should have soon is 3X faster then the one I currently have. We shall see. . . .

what kind of price range are these fast jump drives in?

The 1GB unit in the review was $79.00 from CompUSA. It was $99.00 with a $20.00 mail-in rebate. The 2GB unit I have comming is $249. US Dollars. . .

Hawk, Check out Seagates Palm USB Drive they have it in a 2.5 G and in a 5 Gig unit. Sweet Drives fits nice into a pant pocket and because its round it doesn't not kill you while you are moving around. For those of you who want to check this pocket drive out try ....http://www.seagate.com/products/retail/pocket/ If I get a chance might do a write up on my 5G unit.
tbyte,
Nice. My only issue with that unit is carring it in my pocket, it might look like i'm hard up and carring around condoms. :yikes: :rotflmao:
What I use for my laptop, for storage and backups, are drives from LaCie or CMS.
For the LaCie, I have this in the 250GB version, triple interface (USB, FireWire and ILink)
