Check out Paragon's latest addition to BE Virtues here (http://www.bleedinedge.com/articles/marketing_hype/marketing_hype.html). As he says in the article, this is going to hit home to most of us (if not all)...;)

Please post and comments or questions here! :)

Nice article Paragon...;)

Sounds so familiar. Except my brown truck usually shows a day late as well :)
In the automotive industry we like to call these problems "design characteristics". Well, at least you can test drive a car first before buying. ;)

Another fine article Paragon .

The BIGGEST problem we are seeing here is a new chipset with LOTS of problems.Remember just before the 815chipset was launched the BX chipset was mature and VERY fast.Only problem for us is the industry is moving a lot faster now and our i875/865 chipsets are already on the EOL list.

Scarey I know, but it's a fact, we are all beta testers but the product will never truely come out of beta state..there is just not enough time.

So it comes down to companies either releasing a bunch of stuff which is half done or releasing a few products which are fully developed and tested.

I don't mind being a beta tester but I'd like to get paid for it in the form of cheaper products at least....;)

I think all in all it comes down to one driver....money. Is there anything which isn't driven by it? :(

My point exactly...once upon a time you paid for quality and you got it; that scenario is far from true anymore...the manufacturers that once produced quality products with their first iteration now take two or more revisions to make that happen.

There are still those out there that want to have the first of everything new that hits the market, and God bless them for the pave the way for the rest of us. I used to be one of those that had to have it first; but never (well maybe not never) again.

My most stable system: My AMD dually built on the old but realiable AMD 760 chipset. Newest component on it: SuSE 7.2 Pro. After that the ATi 9500 Pro. All other components were built from designs over a year ago. Hence the reason why my dually is the server. Note that I did this on purpose, I wanted only the proven hardware on the box. My other boxes are for playing around with-the dually is for consistent realiably. Hehe, I do find it funny though that my dually has 64-bit slots whereas the Intel P4 solutions do not have this. Considering that my CWood board cost exactly as much as my dually board I do consider this an important thing missing from the P4 line.
