View Full Version : Installing IntelPro1000driver on P4C800-E-Deluxe.
Does ANYBODY know or understand the procedure for installing the IntelPro1000 driver for this board. The Asus CD's I have both do not list the driver on the drivers tab. I found the driver on Asus website and in the CD's file folders but there is little or nothing that gives instructions for how to install the drivers.
I am beginning to truly HATE Asus. They DO NOT understand what "user friendly" means.

I don't have the Asus board but I suspect that you would go to the Device Manager and select the unknown PCI Communication device or something like that and right-click on it in order to update the drivers to what are found on the CD.

Yup, that's how I did it. Device Manager/ Update driver on unknown device, I think I selected have disk, then browsed to the proper folder to install the drivers. I only installed the driver as well not the extra Intel stuff on the CD.
Yup that's what I will do.
Here is a reply from over at ABXZone Forums.
If you build your own computer you should at least know how to manually install a driver from a inf file I guess not all "experts" are willing to share. I still find it safer to admit I am not one so I can still learn. I also find that kind of answer distressing as it chases off people who think they are asking stupid questions, don't ask and get into trouble unnecessarily.
Ouch. Too late, this is my 12th personal build.
I guess it's more user friendly over here.
Thanks guys.

I got a pop up for a new 1000mb ethernet card after I installed the newest chipset drivers on my 875 board...

Being a Moderator at ABX please accept my apologies for not answering your post over at ABX. I'm always saddened when a person is treated in such a rude manner. It is ironic that I did answer it over here.
Note: I do not normally mod the Intel section since I'm more of an OS/Apps mod that feels like ABX hates AMD users. I have a tendency not to mod a section that can get my blood boiling with AMD myths (I'm one of the few that has actually had an overheated proc kill my motherboard-it was an Intel  )from a bunch of Intel fanboys. There so far seems to be less of that over here at BE but BE is still young.
Hey Pointreyes. I would not worry about Croc. I am older than most and have big teeth so I can hold my own. That was just 1 post and I think he got my message.
What ticked me off is that the attitude can prevent people from posting questions which is a shame as that's what the forum should be there for. I also found that sometimes the experts not only talk over peoples heads but offer up opinions that they tend to market as facts and then cut off debate and other opinions. I too often get PM's asking a question that they feel too stupid to ask in Forum. In most cases that is really their problem but there us an underlying thread there.
A great Sticky at ABX was SpecMike's How to Choose a CPU and Ram Written by a Noob for Noobs.
Thanks for the reply. I am hoping the Bleeding Edge takes off well so I am visiting both.

i said it once, and ill say it again - there are gentlemen in this forum
try here (http://intel.com/design/network/drivers/)
for your device
croc- is your rig overclocked??
sometimes those on board lan controllers dont like 1mhz more than spec
i built a gigabyte rig w/ intel lan
loading the lan drivers was impossible when overclocked.
set up a folder for the above drivers and extracrt from there
gluk
Mostly gentlemen on both forums. To be fair, I think the person posting the comment regrets it and said so. Takes a gentleman to do that too.
Downloads from Asus have been horrific lately. There is a thread over at ABX just on that subject alone. Either the download servers are all busy or people are getting corrupted files. Too many people are getting corrupted bios files and that can't be good. I had 3 in a row for the old P4P800. Asus just sucks right now as far as support is concerned. I have 2 outstanding e-mails that are now 28days old.
I am looking for 1008, 1009 final for my P4C800-E-Dlx if anyone has them by the way.
As for the Lan, people were asking me so I tried a manual browse to a folder and just let the wizard search for the driver on the cd. Both worked fine. I would have tried the latest from Asus but it works fine so why bother. Don't know why Asus could not have something in the manual for people on that.
Yup, I DO NOT download or install overclocked.

I posted this in the "Asus Downloads suck" (I'm paraphrasing a little:)) thread at Asusboards:
Here's the link to the Asus FTP site. BIOS and other downloads are almost always full speed from thnis link. Enjoy!
