Hope This IS In The Right Place This Time If Not Sorry :o :o :o :o

Not Sure If This Has Been Asked Before.

Board Abit AV8
Processor - AMD 64 FX-55
Memory - Corsair 1GB
Graphic Card - ATI Sapphire X800 Pro 256mb
Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar 80GB

Do You Thank I Need To Update The Bios To Use My SATA Western Digital Cavlar Hard Drive
Because The Update Contains The Bios Update For The SATA ROM & Other Fixes ? ???

I Know The Old Saying That If It Isn't Broke Don't Fix It . But Im Not Sure If I Will Have Problems Installing The SATA Harddrive With out Updating The Bios.

So I Guess What I'm Asking Is Do You Thank I Need To Update The Bios To Run My Western Digital Caviar SATA Hard Drive? Or Do You Thank I Will Be All Right With Out Updating The Bios ? IF The Bios Needs Updated Do You Thank There Will Be A Big Difference In The Way It Runs ?

:help:  :help:

The easiest way to find out is to do a "dry" run per se. Load up the os with out do'n the update on the bios and see how it runs. Does is say anywhere that your drive and mobo will have problems?

don`t flash unless you have problems. Try it first with the SATA drive and see if it works.
ASUS has a windows based flash program works great, it should be in the utility section of the MB driver install CD.
