dont waste your time.

if you wanna play with a win9x OS go with 98se.
driver support is severly flawed for new hardware tho for both of those OSes.

OK i blew out the ntfs file system and f disk the drive i thought i put a dos partition on but guest not.
it will not boot now said missing o/s how do i get me to boot
its set in bios to boot from CD.

windows 9x OS cds are not bootable.

make a bootable floppy disk for that OS (bootdisk.com)

Id have to disagree, in my opinion, Windows 98, the non-SE edition was worse than ME by far. So worse infact that they had to RERELEASE Windows 98 as Windows 98SE.

actually at the time the FE to SE thing didnt matter. FE is 95, and SE made it compatible with ME so they could share OS updates and drivers etc. you cant run FE on current systems so thats besides the point.

actually SE is besides the point now too, but it does have a few perks that even 2k and XP dont have. i miss the simplicity of SE :(

if XP was that "slim" wed all be better off. XP treats you like a moron, which is OK for morons but not for true power users :smash:

I have used windows Mongerel Edition and to answer the question about if it runs office xp yes it will run it, but still it is an operating system to avoid, 95,98,SE,ME were all made just to get 2000 and XP to run with less fuss but still xp has its moments

I rebuild-ed my brother-law computer about two years ago with ME. It was one of the deals
Fisher body (GM) and ford was giving there people computers for traing He hasn't call yet for help with it yet. I did the same for two other people one with 2000 which I like a lot by the way :thumbs: but he crash it
The other with 98se he also trashed his two times the one I did with the win 2000
Was my daughter's husband he pays a guy 400.00 to half ass built it with 98 on there?
I put 2000 with a lot of extras free :coocoo: after he trashed I didn’t do it again. so whats with ME with all the drivers it should work fine you think i dont know I'm by no means

p4 1.8 Intel mobo d845wn sdram 2x256 no games but would like to leave that option open.

i have XP home running on an emachines 1.5 p4, 845 chipset, 256mb and it's not that bad. 2000 would be better though.

I'd go in this order,

Windows XP Pro, Home, 2000.

Depends on what you can spend on the OS.

this board only takes srdam so hes out there but can add more, has 4 slots.
