Hello my friends,

Yesterday I built a new computer for someone using the above mentioned motherboard. Everything has been assembled and appears to be functioning correctly. All hardware "was" recognized and no errors were present when booting up for the first time. Now, I have built only AMD based systems before this and all without RAID using the basic older IDE harddrives. This system is using 2X 250GB WD SATA Harddrives connected to SATA 1 & SATA 2 ports on the Motherboard (not the Promise SATA 1 & 2 ports at the bottom of the board). I have set a Sony DVD writer as primary master and a Toshiba DVD drive as primary slave on the standard Primary IDE port (blue). When I first booted computer I could see the 2 WD 250GB drives in the bios. I then tried to install XP pro on on of the SATA drives. I first ran Ontrack disk managed to install the drives. Ontrack DM showed both drives and asked me to select drives to install but would only install them with about 24 X2004mb partitions or something like due to OS limitations so I allowed it to continue with the intention of deleting the other 23 partitions later using Partition magic but i could not get Win XP to install after I had loaded the 6 XP boot floppies (failed to read from XP pro cd located in Sony (primary master). The correct boot sequence was set in bios (Floppy-WD HD-Sony DVD Rom) but when it came to installing from CD i got a "failed to find file message-please type path". Now I thought I would try setting up a RAID 0 config first and try again so I went back into bios and into "IDE config" enanced mode etc and setup RAID 0 and made it bootable ROM. Now I can't even see the Harddrives in bios and when I try to use Ontrack DM it wont even work and when I try loading the 6X XP boot floppies I get a message saying there are no HD's installed and it aborts installation. I am stuck! I have searched the web for step by step info on how to make this motherboard work and get the computer up and running but cannot find what i need only snips of info like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. If there is anyone out there that could help me out and point me in the right direction to help me get this system up and running I would very much appreciate you help. I have only built basic IDE based systems before and nothing involving the latest hardware like the P4C800 boasts. I am sure this system will be great once up and running but I just need to get the OS in.

Thank you very much in advance for any help you can offer me
and sorry about the long post.....

PS: before I created RAID 0 both WD HD showed in bios as Master on 3&4.

Thanks again!

Problem solved, I used the F6 trick to install RAID drivers during XP install, Computer now running fantastic!
