If I go to watercooling? Also what are some recommendations as far as watercooling goes?

Don't buy a kit, build yor own I went with a Kingwin Arctic Cooler 1rst time around and it did a good job at stock settings for the CPU, but when I started overclocking it couldn't keep it cool under load such as prime 95 or S&M. I did some research and built my Own except for the watter block. (Danger Den TDX 1/2 inch barbs) my pump is a attwood 550GPH aerator pump (have not seen anyone useing this pump and wanted to try it out, was only about $22.00 at walmart...hehe....works great) then went to Nappa and got a heater core with 5/8 inlet and outlets, streched 1/2 ID with a little heat on them, (heatercore mesured about 10 1/2 x 5 1/2 just rite for 2x120 fans with shroud) then I found online how to build a PVC pipe resivor, got some 1/2 inch ID hose and thats it. Now im overclocked from 2.4ghz to 2.7ghz, temp at idel is 30c, gameing is 43c, and prime 95 and S&M is about 45c to 48c.

Hope this helps you out. :thumb:

your load is pretty high for watercooling; im using my stock HSF and some AS5 and my max load with P95 is 52C idle is 33C

Ok 1rst, I think the Winchester is 90nm and my NewCastle is 130nm, so yours should run cooler. 2nd, you are using 1.53vcore, and I am using 1.7vcore. 3rd, don't think you can compare the 2 cooling systems with these differences. 4th, the 45c is running prime 95 ( running prime 95 at 45c is alot better than 52c) and the 48c is running S&M, it seems to stress the CPU more than prime 95.(try it and see if you still get 52c)

I think P@cket is right. You should try S&M. A Winchester core is cooler than a Newcastle. On top of that he is using a socket 754. You are using socket 939. 52 C is kinda high. Also should compare ambient temps. One other thing zakee. why thet heck are you running such a low divider on your DDR 500 ram? obviously at 2.65, you are running fsb(HTT) of 295, and your memmory is only running 189(378)mhz. Ewwwww!!!. Crank that ram up!!!! BTW Mach2 gt on the way!!!!!!!!!!!! Beat that ladies!!!!

The above for some reference. If you have access to some "power" tools you can make everything DIY. Now there are two defs of DIY: 1) like I did, I bought parts retail premade but I selected everything I wanted, a tad bit more than a kit. 2) Raid home depot and an auto parts store to nab all you need. It all boils down to what is your determing factor cost or self gratification? It may even be both. Just remember before you buy consult, and have fun :thumb:

build your own W/C kit, i did p@cketloss and my load temps dropped 5c and noise dropped considerably. Also i tried out the kingwin W/C that a buddy bought and was worsse than my SP-97 heatsink with delta fan.

Another thing about comparing temps are the motherboard. If you've the same motherboard you can calculate away of the ambient temp difference, but diff mobos have different ways to calculate the temps which means the temps might be better on one mobo then another and still non is actually the right temp. (Sorry for babbling) I would say go for your DIY or buy a complete high end kit from d-tek, swiftech or danger den... :D

This is true about the motherboard differences, but I am using a harcaino 13 with the temp probe between CUP and socket,so I know the temp is right... :thumb:
