I actually had my Shuttle SFF partially hidden from my wife (with it still running). A month after I had it, I told her that I will have to transfer her OS/software to another computer and then about a week later I introduced the computer-she did not even realize it was a computer. :p She still does not know what I paid for my ViewSonic VP171b-Mikki, maybe we will need to look for an apartment-I don't mind living in New Zealand. :p ;)

Hi Mikki

For what exactly are you going to use all those monitors ? is it work related ?
Would it be possible to have Outlook, Word, and different management tools open on different monitors or will it require the software to be written for it ?

Again it looks damn nice !!!! :yummy:

Mikki
08-12-2003, 01:22 PM
It basically works just like as if you extended your desktop, the software which runs it is very smart. And yes, you can have a different app on each monitor, which is what I was looking for.

The top two I use for apps I need open but don't use much like File Explorer, Media Player, Agent, Trillian, etc. The left monitor is my web monitor, I keep all instances of IE and OE on that, and the other two are my work monitors for UltraEdit, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Premiere, etc. It's cut my switching between proggies down a lot! Hehe...:p;)

Nice setup there Mikki!

But don't your eyes get all buggered from looking at a CRT and an LCD back and forth?

Hiya Thor!!

There is definitely a difference, no matter how much I tweak it. My CRT is a professional series Viewsonic, so there's no way an LCD will match the quality....:p After playing with settings and tweaking it, I've got it so the difference isn't too harsh. I'm going to eventually replace the CRT also, but it's a lovely monitor and I don't really want to. I do all my graphics work on that one...;):)

My ViewSonic (http://www.viewsonic.com/products/lcd_vp171b.htm) is a professional series monitor as well and it's great.

pointreyes, originally I wa looking to have all matching monitors, but I'm into quality, not looks. My main monitor is where I do my main graphics work, and needs to be a good one. Obviously the one I have now is perfect, except for the heat...the thing is one giant oven in my itty bitty room, so it's got to go.

I looked at those Viewsonics and will probably go that route, they still make some killer stuff...;):)

pointreyes

It's the quality that forced me to go with the 17" instead of the 19" ViewSonic. Even though all of the 16ms screens are using the same manufactured screen, I still preferred the VS over the others. However, I have to admit that having 1 DVI and 2 Analog connections on the back and the pivot screen are definite bonuses to getting this monitor. :) DVD playback on this monitor is crisper than on my old IBM P96 (Sony Trintron 19" aperture grill). The ATi 9800 Pro does great on this monitor. Now, if only I could afford a 4-port KVM with DVI support. :(

Mikki, get rid of that acoustic and get an electric guitar with 2 100 watt modified Marshall heads and four 4/12 cabinets with vintage 30's in them or 25 watt Greenbacks..LOL:D .How many dead pixels you find on your LCD's.Mine come with 1 dead one on the edge of the screen.

DAPUNISHER

Did you try firmly massaging that dead/stuck pixel with a q-tip? Many people swear by it, though my last one that had a couple dead pixels didn't respond to it.

I managed to get it RMA'd by telling them it had an area of bad contrast over 1 1/2 inches in diameter that looked like a thumb print but wasn't :D

You should've just asked what is not in the picture!! Like maybe a 25th Anniversary 100w Marshall and a 4x12 cab. Or how about two 2x12 Marshall's? Or a Custom Shop Strat or a Special Edition Jackson? Etc, etc, etc....;):D

...no dead pixels, I count myself lucky....;)

Tell her they were on sale and you couldn’t pass up the opportunity…she’ll understand that

No woman can pass up a good sale right?

I want another monitor and was going to cheap out and go for a 15", but I'm concerned about having two monitors of diff't resolutions side by side.

Thoughts?

SCK, the Matrix had me at hello.....hehe :p

Mike, when I was originally playing with multi-monitors, I ran different res', and it didn't bother me (tho I never intended on keeping it that way...). That's why I bought all mine at once, to ensure they all ran the same and were the same size. The top two are obviously smaller and run a lesser res, which works fine. :)

SCK part 2, sweet!! :-) I've seen Tony's Dell monitor first hand and the quality is fantastic...;)
