I have an aspire dreamer X 2 and i wasnt sure which wires were the ground wires and a friend told me that the colored wires were + and the whites were - anywho i plugged the wires into my a8v-deluxe and flip the switch on the back of the psu (powerstream 420w) and all the lights would come on for a second and then shut off and nothing else happend...about 10 mins later i tryed turning it on again and the lights would keep going on and shutting off like a strobe light...i was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this.

Not quite sure , which wires u are talking about let alone why u need to find specific wires to plug in what ?

Obviously something is not right and the PSU is freaking out, and just shuts down, hoping u have not blown it.

So kindly explain what u are /was trying to do or connect and why the need to know this white wire versus color wires etc...

I was talking about the wires that come with the tower (H.D.D LED, Power LED ect.)i plugged everything in and when i flipped the switch on the back of the psu the lights on the case started flashing on and off and the led fan on the side of the case would start twitching.

In my experience your friend is right...just be very careful you are plugging them all into the right pins...they are very tiny and it is easy to confuse them. that being said if your power plug was not connected right you would not see any type of flicker?

I would suggest you take it all apart and reseat everything and then reconnect.

good luck!

Yea. Just double check all connections. Power cord to wall. power cord to PSU. Power from PSU to board... You get the picture. :)

Some times they dont seat well... and you get odd power probs.

I'm with shyfty. The pins are freakin' small and easily messed up. Despite extreme care, I somehow goofed on my firewire port 'cause as soon as I plugged the digital video camera into the connection it was PZZZT - complete shut down. Luckily everything was fine after restarting and working today but man I dropped a load when it happened.

Reference the board and teh case manual for teh right connections. Do you have both manuals?

Coudl be autoprotect shutting down before something got fried.

Try dissconnecting all the extra USB/Firewire. Basically only hook up the bare minimum and see if it will start. If it starts then add one thing at a time and restart until it shuts off. It could be a short in something you have connected.

If it does not start up then it could be PSU related. There is a sticky in teh OCZ support forums on how to test a PSU if you wish to give that a try as well.

Let's hope it is something as simple as a short in a USB connection (known to happen) and not a PSU issues.

I hope this helps you out

No problem. That's what we're here for

Did you find the culprit that might be causing the problem?

Sounds like it is one of Life's mysteries  (I shouldn't laugh at my jokes)

Could be that, could be any number of things. I was just wondering if you found the culprit that was causing your woes.

It is great that you got it back up and running again and nothing is lost :thumb:
