Ok, here is the plan.

My current network setup is as follows……I run a simple network, 5 computers connected to my Linksys Wireless-G Broad Router. Three are hard wired and the other two are wireless. Basically what I want to do is setup a domain server so every one has to logon to access the net. I know I’ll need computer with two LAN connections, but what other hardware or software will I need and how would integrate this into my current setup.

What I want to do is make this new computer pull double duty as the domain server, file server, print server.

I’m thinking my current main rig will fit this bill to the T. with the exception of adding some big drives and another network card and maybe upgrade the PSU. I do have on-board RAID capability, but have never used it.

Rig specs:

Mobo: MSI Pro266TD Master (MS-9105)
CPU: Dual Intel PIII-S Tualatin 1.26 @ 1.40 (FSB @ 148, vcore 1.42v)
Cooling: 2 x ALX-800 w/80mm H1A’s
RAM: 512Mb Crucial ECC PC2100 (2.5, 3, 3, 6)
Video Card: Visiontek GeForce 3 Ti 500
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Live
Hard Drives: IBM UltraStar LZX 9.1 (10K SCSI) WD600BB
Controller Card: Adaptec 29160
Optical Drives: UltraPlex 40 Wide, Plexwriter 12/4/32 (both SCSI)
Case: LiteOn FS020, 3 x 120mm L1A’s
Monitor: Viewsonic PF790 flat CRT
Speakers: Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700
PSU: LiteOn 300W

This is a new area for me so be gentle.

Seems simple enough:
Router WAN port to nic # 1 of server.
ADSL/Internet to nic # 2 of server.

Software wize, Windows 2000 Server edition and you are done.

Don't have windows 2000 server, look at winroute

Thanks BB, looks like I have some reading up to do before I dive into all this.
