I'm having a problem keeping my DVR-108 write buffer full while writing at any speed above 8x. I have media that is capable of up to 16x, but when my drive tries to go any higher than 8x the write buffer starts to empty and the drive speed oscillates between 8x and 8.5x. I used Nero Drivespeed to confirm this and after 8x the writing speed jumps up and down. I'm pretty sure the drive is okay and I'm running the latest firmware. What I'm wondering is this...I have two hdd on SATA and the DVR-108 is on IDE...is there some sort of bottleneck between the two? Also, is there a setting that I might have missed in WinXP that could speed data transfers up a bit? Thanks.

Oops...the UDMA was disabled in the bios. Repeat after me..."Exhaust all possibilities before bothering the fine folks on BE." Mod...feel free to remove post unless you think it could be helpful to someone.
