View Full Version : Thermalright NB-1
Anybody using one of these, what are they like?
Ideally, do they fit alongside the SP-94 CPU cooler?
Ideally#2 :D - you have the above combo on an asus P4C800E Dlx :thumb:

great NB cooler :thumb:
fanless and paired with a sp-94 on my Abit IC7 :)
Nice one m8 :) - I saw your "pairing" in one of your posts just after I posted this :D
I take it its a comfortable fit having both - or is it a bit of a squeeze ?
EDIT:- Also, did you/can you fit it WITHOUT removing the mobo? (would rather not if I don't need to - the SP94 was bad enough :D)
Forgot to ask... how well does it perform? - and in what way (help with your OC...etc)
sorry for the noob-like q's but its late and brain has switched on "auto" mode :p

plenty of room on my Ic7.
no need to remove moboard, it uses the 4 hooks to mount it.
performs great even w/o a fan.
there is no NB temps on our boards, so i cant give any temp figures.
it replaced my thermaltake tiger1 nb hsf.
i still OC the same but no better, just quieter ;)
its a serious hunk of copper!

thats too bad, cause newegg is selling them for the same price as a NB-1 (aluminium) :bonk:
ah... so there's two versions of the NB1...
Lemme guess.... NB1 is Aluminium... NB1C is ... hmm copper maybe ? :p

Thanks fpr letting me know about the C version - would have bought the aluminum one... didnt know there was a copper version - now my heatsinks will match :p

Nice link & cooler. Thanks. I was thinking of getting one for Asus and/or Abit board but not sure if it woudl fit with other heat sinks such as the Zalman 7000, xp120 and xp90. The Asus board NB cooler is passive but the Abit board has active cooling with an aluminum heat sink. I think the NB-1C will be a great upgrade if it will fit with these coolers.

fanless ~ the NB-1/NB-1C will fit on anything Intel! :yup:
(even with a XP-120)
Got mine this afternoon (with fan) and fitted.. :wpleased:
Was a weebitty tight given that I had the SP-94 fitted but went in fine...
Nearly put screwdriver through Mobo :hide: when I was trying to get one of the hooks lined up ..... :yikes:
However, all's well that ends well
3 gripes
1) No instructions in the box.... VERY handy  - read the info off the site (intructions there) but that doesnt help when you have to switch off the PC to fit the NB1..... :smash:
cmon Thermalright... could do better
2) Now this may be a one off - the plastic protector film didn't come off very cleanly :beat: :beat: - left a nice layer of sticky glue on the HS.... Thank god for nail varnish remover....
3) Grated fingers on the HS itself - as I did with the SP-94

 yea installation is a bit of a juggle with those 4 hooks. ive found the best way to install these sort of HS is to push down on all 4 hooks at the same time, hooking 1 loop at a time.

Shameless plug, but I'm selling a brand new NB-1C in the classifieds section if anyone is interested. :thumb:
