Currently HL2 - I'm taking my time because I'm one of those who is experiencing the motion sickness - turning some of the visual settings down, as well as using a fov of 100 has helped. Believe it or not, turning down the AA and AF has not really diminished image quality too much - and these adjustments have mode the most difference in my nausea.

hey AV and neoprint what servers do you usually play on? perhaps we could join the same server.

my steam id is killer munkey :)

motion sickness joeman?, that sucks.. kinda kills the fun of the game. but it sounds like you can run the game at really high settings that cause it....perhaps you'll trade your motion sickness causing hardware for my non motion sickness causing hardware :D jk

i never can get the settings up to high on HL2, escpecially now that i'm only running on 512mb of ram

Bizarre. Are other people having problems with HL2 in particular or just FPS's in general?

I have read of others having same issues with HL2. For some it slowly goes away after you play for a little bit - exposing your self more and more as you play with beaks in between to give your head a break. I had a similar experience with Quake. Nausea and headaches were the main enjoyment from the game :irk: .

It is thought to be a very mild form of epillepsy or at least linked to it in some way - nothing that causes seizures just enough to mess up your brain & eyes for a bit. Makes sense when seizures have been caused by some games and flashing lights.

Interesting. Makes sense I guess. I felt the same way about how the Bourne Supremacy was filmed - the camera wouldn't sit still, stay upright or stay focused on anything for long in that movie. Ughh.

Sorry, I didn't see this thread again until just now...the nausea has subsided like 90% in HL2 for me. I guess I'm lucky and just got used to the way the game "moves". I turned all the settings back up to the auto recommended levels and it just looks outrageous. Other than an Audigy sound glitch I am really digging it. The end must be near...I'm on my way down into a verryyy deep pit right now after the strider battles - the part where they say "...Gordon, run toward the horse".

I really want to play WoW and get back to SWG too...dang! Doom3 still waiting also...maaann, I love games.

School and trying to get a first review done for FastLaneHW is taking my time up right now though...

I am working on Xbox: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 for now...it's quick and easy to pass out to after doing lots of homework late at night. I am still impressed with the quality of good Xbox titles.

I am going to start over in Fable and be evil as hell this time aroundd. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Pascal has turned me to the dark side...it's making me nuts.

Maybe I'll throw in Halo2 one of these nights - one of these crazy old nights, we're gonna find out pretty mama, what turns on your lights

I was playing just about anything I could get my greedy hands on. But life caught up with me and I had to dedicate basically all my time to studies. Then my computer PSU died. :fire: And I am out of options. :beat: Hopping to get my life and computer strainted out soon. Then....

World of Warcraft
Rome: Total War

And maybe more if I can afford to upgrade my video card after I fix my computer. :smash:

For all those who are having motion sickness. I remember about ten years ago (that seems like a long time for me) with a game called Descent, motion sickness was a major problem.

Most of the solutions I remember for motion sickness that involve games constitues changes in the monitor resolution/refresh rate. Some suggestions also involve changing the environment you play in. Like if you usually play with the room lights off, try playing with them on and visa versa.

Know what I wish? I wish I could just sit here in my underwear for days on end playing WoW...seriously. I really am in the mood for some MMORPGaming and that game looks awesome. I would be a troll. Just sit here, playing for days, weeks on end - letting my facial hair grow all the way out until I look like I belong at a damn shakespeare festval, letting the Dr. Pepper cans pile up and take out the empty pizza boxes every other day or so - I'm keeping the blinds pulled down - don't know when I'll shower - I guess after I get some macros rolling. Yesss, forget college...just surrender to the games. AAAhhhhh... . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Burnt out on going through all of "Classic Doom" in high res and trying to find EVERY secret and play all the secret levels!! :thumb:

Recently played "Prince of Persia the Two Thrones" stuck on the final boss though...

My sons have been playing "Worms 4 Mayhem" a lot.

My wife is racking up the "Nancy Drew" mystery series.

I take the odd ride still for relaxation in "NFSMW", totally loved/beat it!

Looking in to trying F.E.A.R., think my rig can handle it?

I guess I am not alone in the motion sickness feeling in halflife2. I too after a bit of playing sometimes get really sick, mayu have something to do with my having episodes or sorry if i missed speleed it (siesures)? Other than that DOOM3, BF2,Nascar heat, nascar thunder 2004 F1 99-02,nfshp2,BF1942, RSLockdown,Underground, Tigerwoods 2006,and farcry, and getting back into flight sims here myself, Also in a clan Team [BDA] Beer Drinking Assassins. As far as the motion sickness thing or going into small seisures is not something to take litely I can say for sure one i went into that gave me the first clue was while I was playing ODD World on PlayStation and my firend had sence enough too know something was wrong. What kind of seisure it was i am not sure maybe epileptic but the doctors said it was bought on buy specific colors and or formation in the game. Needless to say I have not touched that game since then. If you can do the games and play long hours I am glad and for those like me that can't , hey just have whatever fun you can as I do. Later all

There should be no problem with your rig; played and finished both FEAR and FEAR Extraction, using a 7900GS 7900GT and 8800GTS all set to maxiumum, the texture rendering is suberb in this game, the action is great and each time you play you find new tactics and positions to work from. This is one game that can actually scare you at moments, the Alma character is very similar to the movie "The Ring". The built in benchmarking is also a plus to test your rig. I have been playing for months now and still not tired of it. I play GRAW which has incredible HDR where the 8800 series excel, the game is slower but the tactical situations are fantastic and it took me months to complete the single player (for the time I have to play) COH is like playing "the three stooges go to war" in one part it takes a Sherman Tank and 4 ranger 45 seconds to kill one German Officer armed with a Luger, some of the other tactical situations can be quite hilarious. Call of Duty series, there all great FPS. FEAR 3 will be out 2008. Alma is...........
