Windows Tweaks

Well, afew friends and I are getting a PC hardware website started and one of the things that one of my friends and myself want to do is to be able to build custom rigs for people. Our systems will all be top of the line and so on. What Im hoping you all can help with is on Windows XP tweaks that will overall speed it up and make is run faster so that it can be more gamer friendly as far as performance goes. We want to have modified OS's on our gaming rigs but just dont know what can be done, can anyone help? thx.

I was just going through that earlier joeMan from a link you had in another thread - nicely put together document. I'm not finished with it yet bet seems to have a good deal of useful tips and good links to external sources. :thumb:

It is a huge tweak guide now. I followed one of his earlier, smaller versions religiously because everything in it was designed to lean out XP toward gaming. Get it here (http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=review&dId=324) - it is a tad dated, but the tweaks in it are very good nonethelass.

I have not gotten all the way through his very extensive, comrehensive latest version yet, but I can tell you from personal experience that his tweaks work wonders. Some are minor, and others more substantial - but add them all together once your through the guide and wow, what a difference they all make together.

my XP is hacked down to w98 status :rock:

no redundant backups, logs, or tracing whatsoever.
no driver backups/rollbacks.
no system restore.
no prefetch. (does it even work?)
no dll cache.
nothing!
only 13 processes running after a clean boot.
im on my own here, just like using w98 :D
