all i really care about is the cpu score

my cpu scores shows 6343 which is pretty low isn't for a 2.4C @ 3.5 ghz?

my 2.45 1700+ showed a 2002 score of 7250

anyone know why so low?

okay

now up to 7184 after disabling some background programs...

still seems pretty low though...

guy reported 8000+ @ 3.2 ghz on an ic7 as well..

seems like in win2kpro

the 2.4C HT enabled processor is detected as two separate processors...

so when pcmark2002 runs, it only uses 1 cpu or 50% of the whole cpu...

that is why the score is so low...

so now anyone know how to work around this ;)

You should not be using HT with w2k Pro. HT and dual proc are completely technologies and w2k Pro only knows dual proc. I'm surprised the computer is not crashing on you. What happens when you disable HT in the bios? Does the scores change up or down.

As for getting a new OS-Linux works great on a HT system. Bet you thought I was going to recommend XP Pro. :p :na:

Link please. I don't see any proof of this. All I see is that you can use the drivers for w2k-that does not mean HT is supported. I thought HT support is a kernel issue, not a driver issue.

HT works in win2kpro but it's not officially supported or something

i wonder if that means all my benchmarks would change now if i disable HT

when i did disable HT my scores went up to 8608 from 7200

seems like it likes it better this way...

i should see if during gaming, this occurs as well (if 50% or 100% of the cpu is used)....

thanks again for the help!

Goes inline with what I said about w2k pro understanding how to handle dual procs but HT is a different concept from dual procs. w2k Server (and maybe the Pro edition) do handle HT but I thought only with the Xeon procs. However, I'm on shaky knowledge base on this one.

here's my best score so far for cpu http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcm=1408654 and for memory http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcm=1448168

so yes your 2.4C@3.5 is pretty low when HT is enabled.. win2k3 i guess
