I have completed the ic7 vmem mod successfully after ... 5 hours!!! yes 5 hours!!!
so removing the R50 resistor was no problem at all..
the problem was using the solder to attach the wires to the motherboard... i had to remove and add that thing like a billion times...
anyway...
2.7 shows as 2.83-2.85 now in hardware doc
2.6 shows as 2.70-2.72
i haven't tried higher....
i'll adjust it so that 2.7 is 2.9... taht would be nice so that 2.8 will be 3.0
yay! time to see if my geil gold dragon can run default speeds with higher voltage!
pictures to come!

congrats... me too chicken to try it on my IC7 hehe
nice spot would be
2.5v -> 2.85v
2.6v -> 2.95v
2.7v -> 3.05v
2.8v -> 3.15v
that would cover all brand memory allowed min and max voltages
corsair's ramguy said 2.85v is fine for warranty too

thanks!
tweaked it some more
2.8 now shows as 3.07 :)
i should see how far i can push this at geil gold dragon at 1:1
:)
2.6 --> 2.87
2.7 --> 2.97
2.8 --> 3.07
:)
i'll tweak it again so 2.8 reads as 3.1
3.1 is the warranty limit of the gold dragon

IIRC, ABit mods volt modded, as the higher your vdim goes the more the undervolt.. i think the chips real max limit is like 3.2v vdimm

ahhh
so you think that if the bios reads 3.1 volts then it's actually less than that?
i know the agp, vcore, and vdimm's volts are all low but i figured doing this mod that the voltage would read more closely to what it was....
maybe i'm wrong...
you think i should go for 3.2 volts then? :chit:

btw, what digital camera did you use for those macro shots ? very clear indeed :)

No digicam here, but the SORDID TALE is here: SORDID TALE (http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=53228).
Let's just say that my future Vmods wil be solderless.
Same Mike, at least it will humour us to break the things into a million bits and educate ourselves.

hehehe....
fun for some...
expensive for others...
:eek:
if i broke my ic7... which i was afraid i was going to do... man... forget it... i'd call it quits with intel and go back to a very very cheap amd setup..
