Found this on Madshrimps. I thought it was a pretty good review of most of the top heatsinks available now. I did come up with the same results I did in my search for cooling my prescott's (especially the performance of the XP-120 vs the SP-94). :hide:

Here is a pic of the results and a link to the whole article. Heatsink Roundup (http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=196)

Wow, a whole 24 degree drop from retail to XP-94. I always thought that the retail coolers were pretty good, I guess not...

Nice review. one thing though- the Aerocool heatpipes. I've found using a higher speed fan results in lower temps (naturally) at idle, but under load, there's no difference. Also, I wonder how much better the Aerocool units would have performed if 2 fans were used? I set my DP-102 up with 2 80mm fans, 1 set up blowing, the other sucking. thw ife's Ht-101 gets only 1 80mm fan- its all it needs, and to be honest, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a quieter cooling solution thats as effective. I prefer my Alpha heatsink, but its a bit noisier- currently running an Alpa SPAL-8055 with some basic 80mm fan stripped from a bad Ahanix PSU.

Its amazing the SP-94 is still top dawg. How old is that design?

sidenote- I always get better results using Ceramique over AS5 after burn-in :!:

This is an awesome article. I only wished they reported the noise level for each so you could balance cooling with quiet (btw I think this article was posted in the "News" section but might have gotten lost with all the news that was around at the time).
