Norton AV has had periodic problems with many software apps over the last few years ( 2004 & 2005 have been the worst). I would wait just a bit and I'm sure Norton or Microsoft or both will release a patch...in the mean time let the support team at both know that you ar having difficulties.
I quit using ALL SYMANTEC PRODUCTS after 2003 for the very same reason that you are experiencing, except I experienced it with several differnet apps...Norton is also a horrible resource hog...not dissing your Virus protection my friend just relating my experience with it

Yeah, Norton 2003 brought my system to a screeching hault just about. Norton is just simply a horrible product in my opinion. I now use Panda instead and it works perfectly fine without eating 100% of my CPU power.

Like Paragon said.....I quit using ALL Norton (Symantec) products for the same reasons too. Not to burst your bubble....but they aren't the same trusted "Norton" 6+ years ago. You might want to consider moving to other programs too. Just an opinion.

Agreed with the above comments. When choosing my AV software I 'lived' with all the top contenders on trial versions, some such as Kaspersky lasted till the end of the test. NAV lasted a matter of 2 days.... On the basis of my trial I went for McAfee. Unlike NAV it knew that the system belonged to me, not to it! My son installed NAV on his AMD 2200 laptop, it wouldn't play ball, and he had to uninstall in safe mode - do you think he could get a refund?
The moral? If you can, try a trial version first!
I'm not sure I agree. I have NAV rolled out at many clients and it does not cause any issues anyware with any applications. Yes, it is a resource hog. . .

As said, for an individual looking for AV software, trial it and see how you go. Everyone trials there AV software, so make use of that fact, and use what works for you!
