My first review is now up at Anandtech. I think you will find it'a a subject near and dear to your heart - best memory configuration for 875/865 chipsets - and it introduces some new Memory Tests at Anandtech.

There are several other reviews in the process of going up, so you should see several more reviews from me very soon.

Wow... I just read it before coming here and I thought it was a little different from the other articles...

Nice review! :beer:

Informative review - one very quick followup to it re something you didn't cover: given the benefits of going quad, there is the issue of whether you need something like the OCZ Gold quad pack (which I can't get here in Toronto), or are you safe using 2 matched pairs of 256s for a total of 1 G? I would think the critical synchronization is between the R+L banks so as long as the sticks from one pair are paired across banks I'd be OK - I would just have to mark the pairs so I didn't get them mixed up! ( I hope this is clear? Buy matched pair A, put in 1R and 1L; buy pair B, put in 2R and 2L.) Am I way off base here?

how come the 500ddr only gets 2900 mb/s when my cheap lil ol pc2700 @ only 383ddr gets 2865 mb/s?
hmmm? :scratch:

hopefully before part2 is up, Abit would have a bios fix for the 1:1 > 255 issue :)

interesting comparison how page 4 of review

DDR500, 1000FSB (250x4)
Intel 875 Chipset, 2.5-7-4-4 Memory Timings
OCZ3700 GOLD 256MB DS

memtest = 2821

while 4 x 256MB ADATA PC4000 @250mhz 3-4-4-8 at 2.85v on PX865PE PRO2 = 2860

hehe~ yea i was just about to post my results ;)

the reason why i have such great bandwidth at such a low speed is because of the IC7 gaming accellerator....

@ 191fsb nbs800 1:1 c2622

m86
GA Auto = 2541 mb/s
GA turbo = 2589 mb/s
street racer = 2865 mb/s

@ 200fsb nbs800 1:1 c2622
street racer = 2999 mb/s :rock:

wow ~ i didnt realize the GA street racer was that effective, that it actually takes 260+fsb to break 3k :eek2:

just out of curiosity ~ what is your Aida32 score at that speed?

mine is 5544 / 2427
(3.6g 200fsb 1:1 400dcddr NBs800 street racer c2622)

:-)

:-) pretty low due to timings and being no PAT 865PE board

270mhz 3-4-4-8
Aida32 3.70
read = 5020
write = 2303

ah! now we are getting somewhere :deviltail

get your butt on an IC7 so we can do a more direct comparison :chit:

ok, well, in that case use any 875 board you can for us to get a better comparison with.

there has got to be a reason why my scores are so high.
either these benchmarks are also wacked (like sandra) or "all the bells and whistles" @ 1:1 400ddr IS just as fast as lamed out 540ddr.

if thats the case ~ intels 3.2 and 3.4c chips are gonna kick all our butts :eek2:

:-) it's your 2622 timings + GAT 875P board combo ;)

just tried 2 x 256MB ADATA PC4000 on IC7 max is 255mhz 1:1 due to bios limit :(

unfortunately only works with GAT = AUTO :(

memtest86 reports
2 x 256MB ADATA PC4000 on IC7

@250mhz 3-4-4-8 = 2348MB/s

@255mhz 3-4-4-8 = 2393MB/s
@255mhz 2.5-4-4-7 = 2443MB/s
@255mhz 2.5-4-3-7 = 2546MB/s failed memtest on loading
@255mhz 2.5-4-4-5 = 2443MB/s

will try 4 sticks on IC7 in a sec

it's your 2622 timings + GAT 875P board combo
....and im @ a fsb where i can use it to its fullest extent.

yes, thats my point ;)

the budget B chip and pc2700 combo doesnt perform quite so budget does it?

if you could....
run a few tests @ 400ddr 1:1.
try to get streetracer enabled and tweaked out.

TIA :-)

4 x 256MB ADATA PC4000 on IC7

memtest86 reports

@250mhz 3-4-4-8 = 2866MB/s failed after 6th pass of memtest test #5
@255mhz 3-4-4-8 = 2920MB/s but failed memtest on loading i guess IC7's real 2.75-2.77v can't compare to 2.85v or hopefully it's a bios thing or both

testing has dropped down on IC7 to
@240mhz 3-4-4-8 at 2.76v real vdimm for 4 sticks (memtest = 2750MB/s_

ThugsRook

i guess IC7's real 2.75-2.77v can't compare to 2.85v
i dont know about your board ~ but when i set my Ic7 vdimm to 2.8v it stays at 2.8v even under full load.

2.5v 2.55v 2.6v 2.65v & 2.7v all read as 2.7v in Win.
2.8v reads as 2.8v in Win.

eva2000
08-01-2003, 04:49 AM
for 4 sticks on IC7 when set at 2.8v in bios, windows underload is 2.75v

for 2 sticks on IC7 when 2.8v bios, windows underload is 2.76-2.78v average = 2.77v
